Q. Cam Davis, 8-under 63 to close out the tournament. Must be a pretty satisfying way to end the tournament. Talk about your round a bit.
CAM DAVIS: I played obviously pretty well today tee to green and started knocking some putts in. I've been putting in a lot of good work over the last few weeks, and it was nice to see it turn itself into a really good score.
Yeah, ball striking has been great. Just couldn't quite get the putts going, and today it really felt like I started rolling a few in from that makable range that I really haven't been making much in lately.
Very pleased. I'm glad I hung on at the end there. Hit a couple of squirrely shots, but almost got that one on 18, which would have been nice. But I can't complain.
Q. This is the second start you made here and played nicely the first time. Shot a lot of good rounds obviously. Is this a tournament that you'll always sort of circle on your calendar at the start of each season?
CAM DAVIS: Yeah, I love this course. I love the trees and the fairways. In Seattle, I play at Sahalee, and you get plenty of good practice having aerial obstacles in your way when you're in the fairways.
I just love shaping it around the trees. I love the course giving you shots and challenging you to hit the right one. Obviously the wind was pretty tricky. This kind of course in that wind gets pretty crazy. But on a day like today and yesterday where it's all about you and how well you hit it rather than up to the luck of the draw with the wind, it was really satisfying to play a course like this and play it well.
I really enjoy it. Yeah, I would like to keep doing better and better each time.
Q. You progressed nicely in your PGA career, winning the Rocket Mortgage last year and getting to the Masters last week. What was the experience like at the Masters, and do you think some of what happened last week helped you this week?
CAM DAVIS: Being there at the Masters was a childhood dream come true. I've watched it every year since I've been a golf fan, which is pretty early on, since I was 4, 5, or 6 years old. Especially playing Sunday with Adam in the first group off, just playing the course as pure as it could possibly be with all those Sunday pins. It was so nice going around and playing the course that I'd seen so often on TV.
I started putting some good work into play. I'd had a couple of weeks off and did a really good job. My coach was able to make it over from Australia for the first time in a while. So that work was started at Augusta. Unfortunately, it didn't lead to awesome golf there, but it was definitely trending and kind of accumulated to today where it felt like everything was working quite well.
Q. Finally, we lost an Australian legend earlier this week in Jack Newton. I know that you came through his foundation, had some experiences there when you were younger. Did that inspire you this week to continue to play on the weekend of play as well as you did?
CAM DAVIS: Definitely. That guy provided so many juniors in Australia an opportunity to play competitive golf. It's always a great atmosphere out there. You're with old friends, but finally you got a chance to play for something.
He's done such a great job, such an awesome amount of work for young Australians to get into the game. I wouldn't be here without what he put in place. Yeah, very sad.
I didn't really get to know him super well, but I did get some text messages when I did play well or I got an opportunity like a major, some words of encouragement, and that meant a lot to me. Yeah, it's tough, but glad I could play well this week. I'm very happy to say, yeah, he was definitely in the thoughts all week after he passed.
