Quick Quotes

Q. Third round in, nice note to finish on. What were your thoughts after today?

ADAM SCHENK: Battle all day. Not a ton went our way early. We really hung in there. David did a great job of telling me that everybody's going to struggle today, it's windy, it's difficult. You're going to get some bad breaks, you're going to get some good breaks, just wait for 'em. We got ours on 16 and 18. The birdie on 18 was just an added bonus.

Q. Certain game plan you discussed with David about battling around this challenging course with these conditions ahead of time?

ADAM SCHENK: Yeah, we looked at the winds, we knew it was going to be a little softer today with how the TOUR set the golf course up. So we substituted the 2-iron in and the 5-wood and 4-wood went out. I'll have to see what the wind's going to be tomorrow. I'm guessing out of the north with how cold it will be. So I'll look at the pins and know which pins I'll have problems with probably and know which pins I'll be able to have green lights at and then we'll build our game plan around that.

Q. Does he settle you down? Are there things that you've communicated to him to help you in round to help?

ADAM SCHENK: Lots. We have a lot of discussions. I love working with David. We know our trouble areas, we know what we're good at and we just try to play to our strengths.

Q. What's the mindset for tomorrow and what kind of past experiences do you draw on?

ADAM SCHENK: Keep it simple. Not do a ton of -- probably not do anything different, honestly. Prepare for the course a little bit tonight. Look at the pin sheet, the yardage book where the winds are going to be and have a dinner, watch some basketball. Other than that not a lot.

Q. What would you say that you learned last year at Shriners, being in the same position and it not going your way on that final Sunday? What would you say that you took away from that?

ADAM SCHENK: Oh, that's a good question. I remember Sungjae just absolutely blitzed the field coming out. I made a bunch of birdies and I look and I'm like, oh, I don't have to worry about winning anymore, I was five shots down and playing fine. But he just blitzed the field. Played nice there. Made a lot of putts there as well. So just trusting that you're good enough to win out here and just worrying about myself and playing to my strengths and I'll just see where that puts me. If it's good enough to win, great, and if not I'll take what I can learn from this week and be better for next week I play.

Q. Do you ever find yourself getting ahead of yourself or people have talked about they paint pictures in their head and have to block them out. Do you ever find that and if so what do you do to get yourself back in the moment and sort of reset?

ADAM SCHENK: Yeah, you definitely can. You can see your name on top of the leaderboard and start to think, what if. Play the what if game. But just slow down my breathing, think about the next shot and how I'm going to execute it and what the shot is calling for, what shot I feel comfortable playing and I just go from there and just hit the best safest shot I can, if just depending upon what the pin calls for.

Like 16, I got a lot better at that, I'm not a cutter of the golf bull ball, I'm not very good at it, at least. I think the hot mic picked me up a couple times making fun of myself with how bad I am cutting it yesterday. But learning what shots and what feels I have to have in my game to manage that hole. I did a better job of that today. I still hit a spectator, but last year it would have been spectator 20 yards left, this year it was a spectator a little bit further right. Hopefully tomorrow it will be in the fairway right.

Q. What are you most excited for tomorrow?

ADAM SCHENK: Just the opportunity and see how good our process can be. If I win, great. If I don't win, that's fine too. I mean, obviously I want to be a PGA TOUR winner. I played out here for six years, not that I've done everything except win, but I've done, you know, plenty, played a lot of years. Winning would be everything and awesome.
