Quick Quotes

Q. 8-under, tied for second. Just a little bit of a thought on the round today.

MARTY DOU: So this is my home course. I practice here. I live like seven minutes from here. It's comfortable playing here because it's somewhere you're always on, even on the driving range. It feels like you're at home.

I think that's a big thing for me to play good. It's almost like the year I played on China Tour. Every week it feels like so homecoming. This is the same week for me.

Starting off with a bogey, I wasn't really -- didn't have much thought because I knew I was going to play pretty good, and shots were good, and putting was always good, as usual. So really solid round.

Q. At a place like this, you mentioned being so comfortable here. Obviously we've got some weather rolling in. Do you feel prepared to take on the course in any condition?

MARTY DOU: Well, I never played in rain here, so that'll be pretty new. I think it's going to be a challenge for everybody, but the course overall, it's soft, so it's attackable on a lot of holes. Like par -- those long par-4s you can attack with 4-irons, 5-irons. The more rain it gets, the softer it is. There's disadvantage and there's also advantage.

As long as it doesn't get too windy, I think it's going to be -- well, it's going to still be -- the scores are still going to be low.

Q. Nine birdies today. What do you need to do to keep the flow rolling the next couple of days?

MARTY DOU: Just play like today, not much thought, because haven't had too good of a season, but this is a good start. I don't want to fill myself with too much thoughts in my mind. Just kind of play as today, hit good drives, hit good iron shots and make some putts. I think I'll accept anything with the score if I can do that.

Q. Dallas resident, what's it like to have a home game, sleeping in your own bed?

MARTY DOU: Oh, it's so comfortable. Even in the morning you don't want to get out, just because it's too comfortable at home. Even today, I normally come probably an hour and a half before. I only came like an hour and 10 minutes. Just being at home, you just feel everything is smooth. Like there's no rush at anything, and the drive is always like come here and practice, same road I take. It doesn't really feel like a tournament, actually. It just feels like you're playing a practice round on your weekend days or something, like your off-season days.

Q. Is there a good amount of family and friends following along today?

MARTY DOU: My wife is here, and I did see a couple friends out here, but not too many. Not too many.
