Quick Quotes

Q. PGA TOUR debut, first round under your belt. How did it go?

DAVID MICHELUZZI: Through seven holes it was not looking great, but had a couple birdies, 17, 18, then holed a long putt on 2 and then holed a pitching wedge from 123 meters out, so that kind of all of a sudden I was 4-under when I was 1-over through 7 I think it was. Then just played solid on the way in. Like I made par on 9 just from a pretty bad drive, but I'm stoked. Anything under par I would have been happy, but 6-under is delightful.

Q. Were there nerves at the first tee or was it just like any other round starting?

DAVID MICHELUZZI: Funny, on the tee it was fine, and then I got on the green and then it kind of kicked in a little bit. Kind of was a little bit nervy on some putts. I missed a few early and then got the feel for the greens and then yeah, just took off.

Q. It was kind of a slow start. When did you start to feel comfortable in your round and gain momentum?

DAVID MICHELUZZI: I think the iron shot into 17. I hit it to like two foot, and especially in that stadium thingy. That was nice. I think that kind of gave me a bit of confidence. Then I hit a really good wedge shot into 18. Thought if I can play solid around the back nine, we can do some damage, and I did more than damage, which was nice.

Q. You've had some practice rounds now, a round under your belt. It's a scorable golf course. What's the key to navigating it with your game?

DAVID MICHELUZZI: I think just keeping it in play. I think giving myself as many opportunities as I can, and hopefully keep holing those putts.

Q. Some weather in the forecast. With the greens maybe staying wet, what's the mindset with that?

DAVID MICHELUZZI: We'll just see how it comes. Hopefully it doesn't rain too much. I know there's bad weather on its way. But we'll just take it when it comes, and yeah, go out and do it again tomorrow.

Q. Is there any hole in particular that stood out from your round that you really liked?

DAVID MICHELUZZI: The wedge shot into 4 was nice, but I think the iron shot into -- sorry, the wedge shot I hit into 3, the hole-out was nice. The par-3 the next hole, I hit this nice 5-iron against the wind to like 10 feet. That stuck in my mind because I think after a hole-out you kind of can get a bit excited, but we had a bit of a wait, so just regrouped and hit a good shot in there, but unfortunately missed the putt. But yeah, that shot was nice.

Q. Is there any big takeaway from your first round here on the PGA TOUR that you'll remember?

DAVID MICHELUZZI: Yeah, it's probably something I'll never forget, and just the run I went on, as well, which I have been doing that of late in tournaments back home and then one in Korea, as well, where once I got running, like nothing could stop me, which was cool. But just got to work out all the little things like the little missed putts here and there. But yeah, I'm just excited.
