Moses Brown

Press Conference

Q. Moses, just wanted to ask you, just thinking back to your career and the path that you've taken, playing in the G-League and then obviously two way with Portland last year, what has this opportunity with the Thunder meant to you this season, obviously signing on to a full-time contract and just the minutes that you've been able to play on the floor?

MOSES BROWN: It's meant a lot, and I definitely appreciate the amount of opportunity that I have even being able to play for so long and so much minutes, being able to build confidence here and develop under such a great staff and great program. It's been amazing.

Q. When you think back to the beginning of the season, did you envision kind of being able to have the performances that you've had? Was this something that you knew you were capable of? Or has that confidence grown throughout the season?

MOSES BROWN: It definitely has grown. I definitely thought it was possible, but I knew that I was going to have to put in work to get to where I was right now. I'm just thankful for the opportunity to be able to put that work in and show what I could do.

Q. What have been the reactions from your family, your friends? I know you mentioned your dad being kind of a special basketball figure in your life, as well. That reaction to some of these performances that you've had?

MOSES BROWN: Everybody has been so proud of me. I know everybody has been watching me back home a lot. I get a lot of text messages, people have been shooting me a lot of texts and calling me, telling me congratulations. It's been amazing. It's been good.

Q. What are your plans for this summer as far as where you'll be? And what are some of the things you're going to be focused on working on?

MOSES BROWN: I'm just going to try to stay close to the team and just try to develop here under their roof and just prepare to come into the season a better player and a smarter player.

Q. Over those first couple weeks that you were with the Thunder, both you and Mark were talking about your defense. How do you think you've grown over the last couple months on that end, and where do you need to continue developing?

MOSES BROWN: I think I've grown tremendously on defense, and it's just been -- like I said before, it's just been about the opportunity, me being able to feel out and adjust to different coverages and defenders. Going forward, I would like to be able to just increase my awareness on defense sometimes and just being able to use my size more to my advantage.

Q. Kind of along those lines, you've obviously been able to go up against some really high-level 5 men in this league, really big, sizable guys. What are some of the things you've been able to take away from some of those match-ups that you want to use going forward?

MOSES BROWN: Yeah, definitely wanting to be bang-up against those guys and want to attack rebounds and want to protect the rim. It's something that I have to want to do, and just coming out there with a sense of urgency.

Q. You had mentioned wanting to come back a smarter player, and I think you used the word awareness. Can you explain kind of what that means in the context of your role, your position? What coming back a smarter player would look like to you?

MOSES BROWN: Yeah, absolutely. Just like I said, just being aware of the coverages and knowing what spots to go to on the offense and being able to integrate the stuff that Coach is telling me right into the game right away.
