Thomas Sorber

Press Conference

Q. I know you went to a big time high school, big time college, but I have to imagine in the last month and a half or so has been some amazing competitive stakes and game plan prep and everything to absorb. Can you take me inside of what that was like for you?

THOMAS SORBER: Yeah, definitely like a lot of focus like around playoffs time. So guys were dialed in and I was just like piggybacking off and learning off what they were learning off too. Just trying to see like honestly our opponents' strengths and weaknesses just so I can go up and be ready for next year.

Q. (No Microphone.)

THOMAS SORBER: I feel good. The training process has been a little difficult, but the trainers made it easy for me to feel part of the team and also get my body back into top shape.

Q. What do you feel like you learned this year being inside the team, part of the team, what do you feel like you learned?

THOMAS SORBER: I learned a lot. I learned a lot of patience. I learned a lot just from the players, like just telling me my time's going to come but it takes time. So just being there, working hard every day, knowing that my time will come and, yeah, just staying locked in.

Q. Chet earlier joked between you and Tope and him, the bonding you guys have done due to injury. What's it been like being able to lean on guys who have been through not the same injury but what you're going through?

THOMAS SORBER: Yeah, they have been through it before me so I definitely asked them for some advice on how to go through this rehab process. They told me to make sure -- you know, good TV shows because it gets boring, like for a whole year, rehabbing for a whole year. So just stick to the process and it will all be good. Mainly that's what they said.

Q. How did your teammates sort of incorporate you and make you feel a part of this run even when you're not able to play?

THOMAS SORBER: They made it honestly very easy. They talk to me, they teach me little things. Harp will teach me little things like learning the screen and roll on the defensive side. J-Will would teach me different places to be at on the court. Chet will also teach me where to be at defensively on the help side, like how to time blocks and stuff like that.

So those guys made it very easy for me to be a part of the team and really easy for me to just focus on what I got to focus on and I'll be good.

Q. Were you able to find some TV shows?

THOMAS SORBER: I found a couple. I just started watching -- I know this is a long series -- but I just started watching Grey's Anatomy with my girlfriend.

Q. That's a big investment.

THOMAS SORBER: Yeah, a big investment, I know. But it's definitely costing me some time because I don't even know the day goes by watching the show because it gets more and more interesting.

Q. What he's it like getting an up-close look at an MVP, an All-Star like Chet. What's it like being around those players?

THOMAS SORBER: Honestly, like I didn't think I would be in this position, if you were to ask me like a year ago. But it's been a blessing just being picked by the Thunder, learning what I can learn from the reigning champs, and being a part of this amazing group of guys who are just -- like they want to win and want to compete every day. So I learned a lot from them.

Q. Are you cleared to go back to the court?

THOMAS SORBER: That, I'm not sure yet, but I am doing a lot more things nowadays.

Q. Is the plan to for you to play in summer league?

THOMAS SORBER: That would be my plan, but I'm not sure on my timeline yet.

Q. Moving away from home so young, for a 20-year-old, that can be difficult, especially when things like this happen and you're not even here playing in games. What was the biggest challenge for you during this entire process outside of just not being able to play basketball?

THOMAS SORBER: I'll say eating the right stuff early on in the process. Because people will be there to tell you, oh, you have to eat this, eat that. And you'll be good throughout the whole thing. But like sometimes people get tired of eating the same things. So early on in the process, it was kind of hard for me. But then as the time kept going on, I started to get a little bit older, started to mature up more, and like started to realize like my body is my life. So like just trying to fuel it the right way, put the right things in my body and I'll be good from now on.
