Thomas Sorber

Press Conference

Q. First off, we're going to hear your voice for the first time.

THOMAS SORBER: Hi, how everybody doing.

Q. It's pretty good. Tell us what sitting out last year did for you, and are you cleared to go in everything in training camp and what's that mean to you?

THOMAS SORBER: Well, sitting out last year, I've definitely learned a lot. I've learned a lot about patience, being patient with myself not to rush anything and just to stay the course and build the day brick by brick.

With everything else, like that's up to the medical staff and staying the course, just listening to what they have got to say with me and moving on with that.

Q. You and Chet formed a little bond. He went through the same thing. What did you learn from his situation and how that can help you?

THOMAS SORBER: Like I said before, patience, and he told me the same thing: Just listen to what the medical staff has to say for me and they will steer me into the right direction. That's all I'm really doing right now is listening to what they have to say to me, and hopefully that will make me a better player.

Q. Related to that, any things you learned watching them on the court or watching film or anything like that?

THOMAS SORBER: Definitely learned a lot, like, from those three guys, and the positions to be in, where and where not to be.

Anything that I need advice with, I can ask one of those three guys and it can help me out right then and there. I'm never afraid to open up to those guys about anything.

Q. How does it feel now and what are you able to do and not do?

THOMAS SORBER: I feel great. But I'm just, honestly, sticking to what the medical staff has for me and seeing from there and move on from there.

Q. How excited are you just to get playing again? Feels like it's been a while since you've donned the Georgetown jersey?

THOMAS SORBER: It has been a while. I'm definitely excited. I've been waiting for this moment since I was in third grade, basically. Having that year, gap year, just to watch and learn on what I can work on, definitely helped me for where I'm at now.

Q. Along those lines, can you speak more about what making your NBA debut would mean to you and when you first started to have those dreams and those aspirations?

THOMAS SORBER: It would mean the world to me. I've been waiting for this moment, like I said before, since I was a little kid. Just being able to put on this Thunder jersey and just repping for my family, playing a game for my family, anything that I do is for my family at the end of the day. Just knowing what I'm doing it for and why I'm doing it.

Q. A few years ago, the NBA went through a trend where a lot of teams played small ball, used one wig man, and sometimes none. Last year it switched and Thunder used bigs a lot. Does it give you confidence that there's space on this roster for your contributions?

THOMAS SORBER: Everything that the coaches are telling me gives me confidence. I don't really worry about all the other things. My teammates and the coaches give me confidence on just being like a great player. Whatever I've got to do to produce in the game I'll do whatever the coaches need me to do.

Q. You mentioned doing whatever the coaches asked you to do, but just watching for an entire season, is there anything that you looked at with this team of, I can fill that gap?

THOMAS SORBER: We have a lot of players that can fill any gaps. Whatever they really need me to do, that's where I'll step in and do what I've got to do.
