Quick Quotes

Q. Max, you talked about Friday needing a silly low round, specifically on the back nine. Just waiting for that day, you said it right there. How did you remain patient throughout the day and throughout the week to do what you did on the back nine?

MAX HOMA: Yeah, it's easier to stay patient when you are playing like I am. It feels like you got to get a number right here or there or make a 15-footer.

Yesterday was kind of the day. I hit it so good and burned a ton of edges, so today I put myself in a bit of a hole.

But, yeah, proud to stay patient and not force it. I thought yesterday my caddie, John, said I forced a few putts. Speed wasn't as good today. I just let them go.

Yeah, it was fun, but the game just feels good, so you feel like every hole you're a swing away from making a birdie, so that's nice.

Q. Was it a specific shot, a putt, anything that fueled you to get going there on the back?

MAX HOMA: A little bit of 12. I hit such a good iron into 11 and missed that putt, and it started to feel like it was going. I thought I did a good job after 10 just mentally saying there's no reason you can't birdie 11 through 14 or 11 through 18.

I just felt like it was more mental. I kept myself upbeat and positive that it was going to get going. You can get on runs on this golf course, and I did. I did a good job of hitting some fairways. Hitting the fairway on 15 helps a lot.

Not one swing. I just played solid, I guess.

Q. 64 is going to get it done a lot of Sundays. Chris goes out and shoots a 62. Just tip your cap at that point? You played really well today.

MAX HOMA: Yeah, no, thanks. I don't think you tip your cap. I had a good chance to catch him. He just played better.

He's a phenomenal golfer. I obviously tip my cap in reality, but that's not exactly how I felt out there. It was nice, honestly, to have him go out there and post a number and get going because my goal to start Saturday was to get to 20, and he got there quicker than I thought. So that was just nice to see.

Yeah, he's obviously a phenomenal golfer. I got to play with him yesterday. He's like the nicest dude, too. Very happy with the way he played. I had my chances. I just needed to be a little sharper.

Q. It's been a good place for you the last couple of years. How did it feel to be back and having another top-5 finisher?

MAX HOMA: Yeah, it's great. This crowd is just incredible. They're so kind to me, and it's so fun. I love the golf course.

I never really had played well at a place where you got to go deep to win or to contend. Maybe this is the one spot I could figure that out at.

I usually avoid places where the scores are 20-under, but it suits my game really nicely. I feel like I've done a good job with reading the greens here, too, which is a bonus.
