Q. Scottie, take us through how the round went. Seemed like a long hot day, how you went about it.
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Pretty good description I would say of what it's like out there. The golf course is very hilly. I was definitely quite warm. Overall my round, I felt like I did some good stuff out there. I would have liked to have been a little sharper with my irons today.
I did a good job of staying patient. Would have liked to may a few more birdies, but overall for how I was hitting it, not a terrible score.
Q. Did you feel the course get a little more of the fire back in it that you saw early Thursday compared to the last couple days?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Not really. The greens are still pretty soft so there was definitely some opportunities that we had out there. I felt like I hit a lot of fairways on the front nine, just wasn't able to make as many birdies as I would have hoped to. Overall keep putting myself in position like that, I'm sure the results will improve tomorrow.
Q. Do you change your approach when you're chasing a guy who's four or five ahead of you, or how do you make sure you're staying patient and staying within yourself?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah, the golf tournament -- I started the day five behind. The tournament was only halfway over. So there's a lot of golf. I think Bob has got a four-shot lead going into tomorrow and it's up to me. He's playing some great golf, and it's up to me to go out there and chase him down.
Q. I think at one point the group got put on the clock. Did it affect you on that back nine?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah. I mean, it's frustrating. I didn't really feel like I did anything to put us behind on time.
Bob and I got warned on No. 9, and I felt like we did some pretty good stuff on 9, 10 and 11 and we somehow didn't gain a single second on pace of play. I'm not really sure how that's possible.
Q. You've got Ludvig ahead of you. He keeps going pretty quick.
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: They got put on the clock as well today. So I don't know how quick he was today.
It's just one of those things where all of a sudden now I'm punished for a rules decision I did not totally agree with, and then I can feel it gusting on 12, I can feel it gusting on 13, and there was nothing I can do about it; you've got to get up there and hit the shot.
Overall I did what I could to keep us on pace, and hopefully we don't run into that situation tomorrow.
Q. Bob was mentioning a lot of slope around some of those pins today. How tough is that when you're trying to make up ground?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Well, they got it started today on 1. That pin was pretty -- on quite a bit of slope. I hit a pretty good shot in there and I got a 12-footer with a couple feet of break on it. I thought Bob made his putt on the first hole, and it was going sideways at the pin. It seemed like that pin was on 4 degrees of slope over there.
It's challenging. But that's what I said about giving myself a good amount of opportunities today. I wasn't as sharp as I would have hoped with the irons. I felt like I was putting kind of up and over hills a little bit today and felt like I could have put myself in better positions going into the greens.
Q. Talk about the interaction with the fans today and maybe what you heard out there.
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I didn't see any of that. I played with Bob when we were in Scotland. I heard some fairly choice words when I was leading the tournament in Ireland.
I think it's part of it. People have a tendency to say things that are dumb. I can think of a few things that were said to me in the final round in Ireland that were very far over the line. If you're a fan, it's only going to fire the guy up more, and I think just do your best to behave out there. It can be a little bit silly sometimes.
Q. Is that kind of stuff more noticeable in a Ryder Cup year, like six weeks away from Ryder Cup?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I couldn't tell you.
