Quick Quotes

Q. You've been kind of on the wrong end of maybe two of the shots of the year with Spaun's putt at Oakmont and then the shot that went in with Scottie today on 17. I know you still had a couple holes to play and try to match it today, but what's going through your mind when he makes the shot?

ROBERT MacINTYRE: Yeah, he's hit a great shot. Nothing you can do with that. I just didn't play good enough.

Q. What did you notice from yourself at the start that maybe just -- you didn't get off to the best of starts.

ROBERT MacINTYRE: No, I got off to an absolutely horrific start. I just expected jumpers on 1 and 2. 1, it's come out dead and then it's got a massive mud ball just short of the green. Hard to control the chip. But I just felt great going out today. I wasn't even expecting to be over par, to be honest. I was really expecting to go out there, foot down, and perform the way I have the last couple days.

My golf ball was going miles today. I don't know why. I need to work that out. But when I got the game back in somewhat of a shape, I went over the back of the par-3s. I feel I've hit good shots, and I've gone miles.

Q. Do you feel like you battled -- you lose the lead five holes in but stayed competitive until Scottie chipped in.

ROBERT MacINTYRE: Walking up I think it's 15, I'm talking to myself. I wasn't nice to myself up until that point. Scottie has missed a putt, and then I'm like, right, if you were given one shot back going up 15 at the start of the week, would you have taken it? 100 percent I would have taken it. Yes, I had the lead, but it doesn't matter until the final putt on the 18th green and the 72nd hole. I still had a chance.

When he's pitched that in on 17 and then he's hit the perfect tee shot on 18, it's pretty much game over just then. You're playing for second place at that point.

Q. He seems to be hitting every fairway, every green, and it's kind of the two of you out front. That's got to put extra pressure or you know he's not going to blink, right?

ROBERT MacINTYRE: Not at all. I can't control what he does. Look, he doesn't hole out, he doesn't get up-and-down on 17, he holes it. If he doesn't get up-and-down there, my ball didn't fly two yards long, it may have been a different story.

But look, he's the better player on the day. I'm just really pissed off right now.

Q. What do you see as improvements you feel like you need to make --

ROBERT MacINTYRE: I mean, right now, not a clue. Right now I want to go and smash up my golf clubs, to be honest with you.

Q. Obviously a lot of fans here today for Scottie. I think one guy was heckling you on 12 a little bit --

ROBERT MacINTYRE: How many?

Q. One when I was walking right next to you on 12 for sure. Did you think they did a good enough job controlling that, and were you -- what do you have to do to fight through that?

ROBERT MacINTYRE: I'm not going to comment.
