THE MODERATOR: We're excited to be joined here by Si Woo Kim at the 2026 TOUR Championship. Si Woo, it's your third time playing in this event. Let's get started with kind of an assessment of your year. You had a great season, enter this week No. 5 in the FedExCup standings. When you look back at your 2026 season, how do you feel about your performance?
SI WOO KIM: Yeah, it's been a great year. It's been pretty much the best career season ever. It's been a great run, and enjoying to play this week.
Q. Did you get a chance to look at the new TOUR Championship format that was announced this morning for 2028, and what are your thoughts on that new structure?
SI WOO KIM: I kind of like it because I always liked the match play thing. Then we get the top 32 players that get into the group match. That's what I read. It's going to be fun.
I don't know how other players like it, but to me, it's going to be way more fun than I think 72 holes play. It's going to be fun and exciting.
Q. Were you happy with your year? And if you are, why?
SI WOO KIM: Yeah. It's been a great year for me. I think it's the best year for me, like all my golf career. That's why I like it.
Yeah, I've been playing so much consistently this year. I haven't won yet, but even if not win, I still like the way I finished this year.
Q. The first hole here has played the hardest year in and year out. Can you talk about why that hole is so difficult tee to green?
SI WOO KIM: I haven't played the first hole yet.
Q. What do you think will make Geoff Ogilvy a good captain at the Presidents Cup?
SI WOO KIM: I think he's really friendly with the players. He listens a lot for what the players think about every decision. He's really good at it, and he used to be a really good player, and he won a major. He's really good for us.
We've had a lot of dinner meetings this year, almost six, seven times, so we get more bonding the players with each other. Even if not on the team, there's still so many players to get each other to know. I think we're getting a better relationship with the players before the Presidents Cup. It's going to be good for us.
Geoff knows what he's doing. He knows what he's doing. We're going to be excited for that week.
Q. What do you think has held you back from winning?
SI WOO KIM: I think sometimes it has to be luck that week. I feel like I didn't get luck much. But I've been playing so good. I've been playing a lot in contention this year. I don't know, something doesn't get momentum right at the time, so I'm waiting for that moment at any time.
I think everything I'm getting better. First year I was in contention -- first time I was in contention in Palm Springs I was so nervous, especially playing with Scottie. The first three holes I don't know how to do it. But I'm getting used to it. I'm getting better. I'm just waiting.
Q. The fans are accustomed to match play over a couple of days and concluding. What do you think about the suspense that may be created by having two weeks of match play to decide the TOUR Championship?
SI WOO KIM: I didn't know that two weeks back-to-back match play. I don't know, it's going to be work, but it's going to be fun. I didn't know much of that information.
Q. Why didn't you play any good last year? Why did you play good this year and not previous years? What did you do?
SI WOO KIM: I think I played good last year too, but I was struggling with the putting yips pretty much the last 10 years. Some weeks going, some weeks come back, like shaking hands during putting.
So I was struggling with that, so I was using broomstick. First year I got broomstick I won Sony Open after Presidents Cup. Now without the putting yips I think I can play good.
But I was really struggling with the putting yips. Every time I was in contention, hands were shaking a lot, so I don't know how to deal with it. Somehow I figured out this year after Genesis. After that, totally got out of the shaking hands. That makes me really comfortable and confident, so I think that's why I play more consistent.
Q. If you were to keep track or guess, how much money have you lost to Scottie this year?
SI WOO KIM: I can't say how much I lost, but I think I'm paying for his second son, all the diapers. (Laughter.)
