Q. Before we get to the heroics of your iron play, you guys were waiting all day to get a putt to go, and eventually you did on 15. How much did that help the momentum shift in this match?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah, you said it right. Just waiting for a putt to go in. The hole felt small for a while, but it opened up there on 15, and it was an important one there because Ryo was on basically the same line as me. So it was nice to be able to hole that one and put some pressure on them. And then Sam, pretty good iron shots there on the last couple holes.
Q. Let's speak about those iron shots. After the putt on 15 we heard the roars, and then you just hit two beautiful approaches in to close this out. How important was it to close this match out for the Americans to ultimately win this morning's session?
SAM BURNS: Yeah, it was. Unfortunately I left my guy on the island on 15. I tried to get a ball in first and just didn't make the putt. But you see why this guy is who he is.
Yeah, 16, it was really kind of between clubs and I felt like it's always nice having Scottie hitting behind you because if you hit a poor shot he's going to pick you up. I felt like if I could really crunch a 7-iron it was a perfect number, and I was able to hit a great shot.
Q. You are going to be split up this afternoon; may not have heard yet. Scottie, you're getting the opportunity to sit out for the first time and be a cheerleader. How does the World No. 1 react to that?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah, our team is a great team, and I'm looking forward to going out and supporting the guys. Yeah, it'll be fun this afternoon, and yeah, cheer them on, get a little rest.
Q. Sam, you'll be teaming up in foursomes with Wyndham Clark, taking on Ryan Fox and Min Woo Lee. How will you prepare for that one in foursomes?
SAM BURNS: Yeah, we'll go in and grab a bite to eat. Wyndham and I have played a lot of golf together, and he's a fierce competitor, and I'm excited to tee it up with him.
