Q. Sepp, 3-under, 69. Nice start. If we can get some comments on your round.
SEPP STRAKA: It was kind of a mixed bag except for the putter. The putter was hot. I putted really nice today.
Kind of hung in there on my front nine on the back and then when I made the turn, was able to take advantage of some good iron shots and posted a good round.
Q. Talk about the difference in the conditions weather-wise from the front nine to the back.
SEPP STRAKA: It was freezing this morning. It was really cold. I haven't had the cold in a long time. That was a little new. But, yeah, it definitely switched at about hole 6 or 7.
Q. Then, take us through that birdie-birdie-eagle on 1, 2, and 3.
SEPP STRAKA: I hadn't hit a whole lot of good shots, especially into the green up to that point. 1, 2, and 3, I hit three beauties out of the fairway. The fact that it holed out on the third hole was just a little cherry on top.
Q. How did you spend last week?
SEPP STRAKA: Last week I went actually to a wedding in California over the weekend. Got to play some golf out there, which was nice. Yeah, the weeks before that, I didn't do a whole lot golf-wise, but last week tried to get back in the swing of things.
Q. So before the wedding, you got back into the swing and then enjoyed the wedding and then flew here from there, from California?
SEPP STRAKA: Yeah, exactly. Michael Johnson and I played a bunch of courses out there. He went to the wedding too, and we got to play three pretty nice places out there and enjoy the wedding as well.
Q. What type of weather is your optimal weather to play golf?
SEPP STRAKA: The way it is right now I think would be everybody's favorite. I don't know anybody who would complain about this. I had to get through a cold morning this morning to get to that.
Q. In terms of kind of beginning of the season, the points are kind of all starting from zero. What's your motivation for playing some of these events in the fall to try to get in a good position in the points race?
SEPP STRAKA: It's always good to get off to a good start. I always like to play this one. It's really close to where I live in Birmingham, so this is always on the schedule.
Yeah, it's always nice to get off to a good start in the fall. That way during the break, you can kind of relax and not think about it too much.
