Quick Quotes

Q. Can we get some comments on your day?

TOM HOGE: Yeah, just tried to keep it going from last week, I guess. A little bit different challenge here this week trying to get the ball in some tighter areas off the tee and then that's kind of the key for me is getting the ball in the fairway and trying to go from there.

Hit a nice wedge into 2, was a tap-in birdie. Felt like I missed a couple chances, 3 and 8, where I had good looks and missed some fairly makeable putts. So the eagle on 9 was nice to get me going into the back nine, and then just a gift on 14, 8-iron from the rough that ends up going in. Certainly feel like I stole a couple on 14.

Q. What did you hit on 9?

TOM HOGE: 9, I hit a 3-iron in for my second shot. It was playing into the wind today.

Q. You seem to do well at this course or you have done in the past, at least one year.

TOM HOGE: Yeah, yeah. It's interesting for me going around here because I do feel like I let one get away I think it was 2018 where I played well so there's a few spots around here that sting a little bit thinking back to that.

But I certainly feel like it's a golf course I should play well at, and maybe the results haven't quite worked out how they should, I feel like. A few years where I've come over here thinking my game is in really good shape and shoot a good round in the first round, a couple over in the second round and miss the cut. The results have been a little bit mixed.

But I do enjoy it here. I really enjoy these sort of golf courses on TOUR, here, Colonial, Harbour Town, where you've got to get the ball in the fairways and it's pretty tricky to do so.

Q. Were you trying to land it on the front of the green on 14 or get it to the front of the green?

TOM HOGE: Yeah, anywhere around the front edge, event a little bit short was going to hit and run up there with the lie that I had. It was a pretty fast lie being downwind, as well. Then I pulled it a little bit, so I was just hoping it would get down before it got over the back of the green.

Q. Did you see it go in?

TOM HOGE: We did, yeah.

Q. Was it exciting?

TOM HOGE: It's funny, my caddie James started with me in Maui last year, and he's been giving me a hard time because I hadn't holed a shot from the fairway with him at all. I feel like I'm a pretty good wedge player, short iron player, so I've certainly had plenty of opportunities and haven't made one. He's been on me for that, and for that one to be the one that goes in was pretty funny.

Q. It feels like kind of a high standard, doesn't it? You don't hole out all the time.

TOM HOGE: I guess he watches Scottie Scheffler or something, sees him holing out all the time.

Q. How are you sleeping?

TOM HOGE: Good, yeah. Baby is at home, so I've got to enjoy the sleep while I get it.

Q. What's that been like? It's your first time away from the baby?

TOM HOGE: Yep. Certainly different. But it's been great. Probably puts things in perspective a little bit here with some of these bad shots that I hit. Certainly haven't been quite as upset.

Q. You don't FaceTime a five-week old, do you?

TOM HOGE: I FaceTime my wife to see him every now and then, yes.
