Q. Gary, how do you feel going into the weekend? This must feel nice.
GARY WOODLAND: It does feel nice. I was saying a little bit ago it's like I can see again. I feel well, but I'm on the golf course and I'm in my zone and not searching for it.
I think for a long time, most of last year, I didn't know what to expect each shot, how I was going to feel. It's just like I haven't felt this way in a long time. It's nice. The game, I'm trending in the right direction. There are still some things to get better at, but it's exciting and the signs are there. It's been a long time. It's nice.
Q. Does it almost feel like this is Friday and I know where I am and what's coming, almost a big picture view instead of snapshots?
GARY WOODLAND: Yeah, last year was almost like I was a rookie again. Didn't know what to expect every week. Now this is knew 17th year out here. Feels like I'm a veteran again. A lot of the same feelings I had probably a long time ago. Expect to hit good shots and feel the way I'm feeling right now. That hadn't been the case in a long time.
Q. Where were you trying to hit your tee shot on the 16th hole?
GARY WOODLAND: Not there. The cart path, got lucky there.
Q. Was it a cart path?
GARY WOODLAND: It was cart path that bounced up there. I was trying to hit it at that third bunker, but just pulled it a little bit and caught the cart path. See, getting good bounces again. You start feeling good and good thoughts, you have some good bounces.
Q. So just what do you make of this tournament and what do you hope to achieve of what you are...
GARY WOODLAND: Yeah, I love coming here. Waialae, you're in Hawai'i, so hard to not be happy when you're here. This is my 17th year here on TOUR. Haven't played here every year, but this good as I've seen the golf course. It's in great shape. Little breeze, which is nice. There are some tough shot out there so scores aren't running away.
Supposed to blow like this on the weekend, so should be a fun test.
Q. What do you make of the greens out here and just the atmosphere?
GARY WOODLAND: Yeah, atmosphere is great. Fans are happy. Like I said, we're in Hawai'i. I think everyone is in a good mood. Golf course is in great shape. Got to control the ball in this wind. If you get it on the right spot on the green you can definitely make putts.
