Q. When you drew a former champion of this event in Bubba Watson, what was your approach coming into this day's play?
ABRAHAM ANCER: Yeah, I knew it wasn't going to be easy. Bubba is all around a really good player and obviously a major champion, and he's won this event, so he knows what it takes. Yeah, I just knew I had to play flawless golf. Thankfully I played really well and I made some putts when I needed to.
Q. Last week you missed the cut at the Valspar Championship. Were there certain things that you worked on with your game coming into this week's play?
ABRAHAM ANCER: Not really. I just felt like I'm close to playing some really good golf and I've learned through the years that you just don't panic. I know that the good golf is just around the corner so I just keep doing my thing, and it's showing today. Definitely played a lot better and made some putts.
Q. You got off to a good start and kind of kept it going.
ABRAHAM ANCER: Yeah, I played really solid. I told myself with this wind you just have to be hitting a lot of greens. That will go a long way. Made some putts, some really big clutch putts to tie some holes. Like for example here on 16, that one was big-time.
Yeah, I knew playing Bubba I had to play some really good golf. He knows what it takes to win this event, so really happy with the result.
Q. I've followed you a last over the last few years. I would think this format -- you drive it accurately, you're a good iron player, this has got to be something you're looking forward to.
ABRAHAM ANCER: I enjoy it. It's exciting. We don't get to play it very often, maybe just once or twice a year. So yeah, once this tournament comes around, I just think it's fun. The mentality is different. I wish I had this mentality more often, but it's hard to put that into every single week.
I love the golf course, as well. I think it fun to play a match play event here, and I love the format.
Q. The water comes in in some tricky places, too.
ABRAHAM ANCER: Exactly. You have to be really accurate coming into these greens. There's a lot of movement, and you just have to be, like I say, really accurate. You throw a little bit of wind in there, it's not easy.
