Q. Just describe the day and your play.
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah, I felt like I did some good things out there. I felt like I hit a lot of good putts. Just hit a lot of lips. I did enough to have a really good round. Just putts weren't falling today for some reason.
Q. Overall satisfied with the week?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah, did a lot of good stuff, fought pretty hard most of the week. Like I said, today was a day where I executed really well, hit my lines on the greens, hit a lot of good shots going into the greens. Just ball wasn't going in. Just a little bit off, I guess.
Q. How did Brad do filling in in this situation?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: He did good. Brad has stepped in before. He's a great friend and he does a good job keeping me company out there.
Q. Now that he's gone, can you talk about J.J., where he's been, didn't make the Playoffs last year, now he's had a huge season. What did you see in J.J. today and how he played down the stretch?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah, he's a great player. He's got a ton of talent. He hits it really, really solid. To win a U.S. Open you've got to grind really hard, and he's a guy that he gets the ball in play, hits it really solid and he holes a lot of putts. He's a tough guy to beat.
You love seeing guys like that have success, guys that work hard and get the most out of their games, and J.J. is definitely one of those guys that's a grinder out here. You always see him practicing, see him in the gym. Definitely happy to see him having the success that he has.
Q. After a bogey on 15, how important was it for you mentally to birdie 16 and 18?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah, poor tee shot there on 15, but then I hit some really good shots after that to give myself a look at par and hit a good putt there, just didn't go in. I knew I was executing well, just needed to get it in the fairway on the next hole and try and make some birdies coming in.
Q. What was the biggest adjustment you've seen from the scores compared to last year after the renovations?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I think the greens are a bit firmer, which makes it more challenging. There's also a bit more rough, so definitely even more of a premium on getting the ball in play.
Q. What can you take from this week and carry on to next week?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I hit the ball nicely this week, did a lot of good stuff, and it definitely gives me some confidence going forward.
