Q. Tommy, how are you feeling after the first round?
TOMMY FLEETWOOD: Yeah, I feel good. I didn't really play very good in the practice days. Game's not really been that great. You know, I've been showing a lot like some good and some really not so good.
Hit it great off the tee today. Still my iron play was iffy, but I did a good job of managing it for the most part. Still hit some really good shots, and you can never underestimate how good -- I think shooting under par on this golf course is very good.
It's easy to think -- I hit it off the tee really well, so it's easy to think I had chances all the time, which I kind of did, but you can't take that for granted really. So very happy.
Q. You've been out here since Monday dealing with the conditions. Being the fact that nothing has really changed, how has that kind of just helped your performance to this point?
TOMMY FLEETWOOD: It's just hot, isn't it? Yeah, you just have to be really sort of disciplined and specific with the work that you want to do and try and time manage as much as possible.
But, yeah, it's just this time of year and the Playoffs, you would definitely rather be here grinding away than not. So enjoy it really, enjoy the heat and everything, and make the most of it.
Q. How much -- just being out here, how much do you think about last year's tournament being here and kind of using that as motivation, and how much confidence do you have from how you played today?
TOMMY FLEETWOOD: I think it's more -- it's always nice coming to a golf course where you have like positive memories of good shots, good feelings on tees and into greens and stuff. I think that's always a help.
I've had two or three really good results around here. I was obviously playing very, very well last year. I put myself in a good position. All you can do is prepare the best you can and go out there and see if your golf's good enough to put you in that position yet again.
I do, I enjoy this golf course. I think it's right there in front of you, and you're going to get rewarded for playing well, and you're going to get punished for playing poorly.
Q. 9-under today between you and Jordan. What was the dynamic like between the two of you?
TOMMY FLEETWOOD: We'd have had a really good battle ball score actually, probably. I don't know what it would be, but Jordan is always great to play with. I had a really good time with him. He played great.
It's always helpful when you have momentum in the two-ball really, so that was nice. Especially on hot days and we're really grinding it out, it was nice to be kind of stress free for the most part. All of that sort of makes a difference.
