Q. Keith, it's a long season. This is a long week. We've been following closely with what was on the line for you. I guess just take us into that moment. Standing on 18 tee, where was your head at? Did you know what you needed to do? How do we move on from here?
KEITH MITCHELL: It's a good question. I didn't look at the leaderboard all day. I had really no idea where I stood until walking off 17 green. 18 tee shot is tough. You've got to decide if you're -- if I'm way in, I can just lay up out to the right and make 5 and be good, but I knew I was one back.
We thought it was helping a little bit off the tee, so I absolutely strike my 3-wood. I thought it was perfect when I hit it. Caught a little bit of a gust, and it came up that short.
The second shot was obviously interesting, and I just didn't play it far enough right and ended up making 5.
Q. Brian Harman talked about it earlier this week about how much you guys care. Even if you don't work your way into the top 50, there's still chances for you in the fall to qualify for at least the first two Signature Events. You're as involved as anybody with the PGA TOUR, the changes that are happening. How much do you guys care on a week like this to work your way in?
KEITH MITCHELL: I mean, it's tough because this year I was like one foot in, one foot out all year, in the majors, in the Signature Events. I didn't have a schedule. Really didn't have like a life, off weeks built in. Every week I was like first alternate or am I going to get in?
That's good because you're playing well, but if you're in at the start of the season, it's a game -- it's a different life literally as a PGA TOUR player. It felt like that out there today. I felt like I handled it pretty well. I hit a great tee shot on 18, I thought. I felt like I handled the nerves of an entire season on your hands pretty well today.
It looks like I'm going to come up short, but I did my best.
Q. Nothing is a lock. So we don't know for sure. One thing is for sure, you always handle yourself incredibly well, including talking to us during a difficult time today. We appreciate that.
KEITH MITCHELL: That's very kind of you to say.
