Quick Quotes

Q. Great playing today. Back-to-back rounds 69, 67. Get an opening comment on how you think you played through two rounds?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I feel like I played all right. I did some good things and some bad things out there. Overall with how I played I'm happy to be somewhat in the tournament.

Today I felt it could have gone either direction, either really good or really bad. But overall fairly happy with how I played.

Q. Comment on the test that the golf course is offering this week through two days.

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah, the rough is up, these greens have a lot of pitch in them, so birdies are kind of hard to come by just because there's so much slope in the green. Even when you hit a really good shot you're kind of stuck in a position where you got a putt that has just a ton of movement. So it's definitely a challenging course.

Q. Is it nice to look up at the leaderboard and realize that you haven't even literally lost any ground, nobody's gone low this morning?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah, I mean the wind was up pretty high this morning. I don't know what it was like yesterday morning, but today it was, the wind was definitely up. Hopefully it will stay that way for the rest of the day, but who knows.

Q. Obviously your first time here at the Canadian Open how has the fan support been the last couple days?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Fan support's been great. Definitely good turnout. The crowd was, they were there pretty early this morning, I was surprised, we were going off at like 7:10, and by the time we got to 10 green or 9 green, I forget we're starting on 9.

But it's been great. Had a lot of fun the first two days and hopefully the support will be just as good on the weekend.

Q. Yesterday you started with back-to-back bogeys, but how do you kind of mentally wrap your head around the fact to realize, yeah, okay, fine, that wasn't a great start, but there's still a lot of golf left here?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah, I mean I feel like my game's in a decent spot right now and so if I just kind of keep doing what I'm doing, not overreact to things. Two bogeys to start. Definitely bogeying 1 is really frustrating because it's not a hard hole. 2 is not an easy hole but it's not that hard either.

So it's definitely frustrating, but just kind of stayed in it and I had a chance to turn in a really good score yesterday afternoon and I finished with two bogeys too. So other than the start and the finish, yesterday was a great round.

Q. A lot of guys like to take the week off before a major. How do you balance that between staying like in the game and the need for rest?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Typically I play a week before a major. That's something that's worked for me well in the past. I kind of like playing into those events. So for me getting a good prep week here where I can get some practice in and the golf course is somewhat similar is really helpful.

Q. You've dominated the par-5s so far. With only three of them how key is that to scoring well here?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: It's definitely key. Like for instance today they all came in the beginning of the round and so kind of had to come out of the gates firing. So it's definitely good to be able to take advantage of those.

Q. The greens, you were talking about how slick they are. Is there any kind of comparison to Augusta?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: There's definitely a lot of slope. I would say these aren't as fast as Augusta, but there's definitely a lot of pitch in them. Like I said earlier, even when you hit good shots into the green you're still left with a putt that has a significant amount of break in it and so it's definitely not easy to hole putts out here. There's a lot of movement.

Q. Ted's back next week?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah. He's okay. He's all right.

Q. Did you notice a lot of people screaming out that they have got money on you this week? Did you notice that more and more these days or no?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Not really. Actually I haven't really noticed that at all this week. I feel like I usually do because like they really scream it and you can't help but hearing it because they're yelling. But this week actually I don't think I even heard it once.

Q. They are.

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Oh, really?

Q. They're yelling.

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I haven't heard 'em yet.

Q. Can you describe the atmosphere at the Rink and what it was like chipping in yesterday?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Chipping in there yesterday was definitely a lot of fun. We were talking, it's typical for a hole like that where there's going to be a ton of people, it's kind of like the party hole, where it's really short.

This one's a pretty hard one. It's a 5-iron. With the way that that green is pitched and where the wind direction is it's a really, really hard shot just to get that ball on the green. To be able to chip in there yesterday and make a birdie was definitely a lot of fun.
