Q. Incredible final round. 8-under 62 today. Did you feel something like that coming on and how special was it to be doing it right here?
COREY CONNERS: Yeah, definitely felt like the last few days I played really solidly, just last few weeks even, just hadn't maximized the game, hadn't got as much out of the game as I wanted. Definitely nice to have low round today. Played really well. Yeah, it was definitely felt it coming, don't want to get too far ahead of yourself out there, but I knew if I was just patient and kept trusting the game then good things were going to happen and nice to have a good score today.
Q. How rewarding is it coming off a round like that going to a major championship and how important would it have been or the sort of had you not had a round like this how much does this help going into next week?
COREY CONNERS: It certainly helps. I feel very positively about all parts of my game. Disappointed to come up a little bit short here, didn't quite get as much out of the game as I could the first few rounds. But a lot of positive mojo into the U.S. Open next week.
Q. You said you were playing, you felt like you were playing well all week, but the scores sort of came on the weekend. What's the difference there?
COREY CONNERS: I think just being a little bit tidier, avoiding mistakes, I was able to do that really well the last couple days. Saving par putts, just converting the birdies when I had a chance. Really got on a few runs out there where I made a few putts in a row and that's kind of what had been missing the last few days.
Q. Congratulations on winning the Rivermead Challenge Cup as the low professional Canadian at the Canadian Open. That is quite the accomplishment and really puts you in Canadian golf history books. How does that feel?
COREY CONNERS: It feels great. Obviously there's another trophy that we're all out here playing for, so hopefully some day can get my name on that one as well. But it feels really special. There's a great list of Canadians who have their names on that trophy, so definitely an honor to have my name added. It was a great week and hopefully start there and can challenge for the title in the next few years.
Q. For you and other Canadians it's sort of back-to-back majors with the Canadian Open and then the U.S. Open next week. Is that tough to go from two really big tournaments back-to-back?
COREY CONNERS: Not really. Week-in, week-out on the PGA TOUR there's really big events. Trying to get yourself up for each week. Obviously this week has a little something extra for me, it's a little extra special being my National Open. Excited for the U.S. Open. Looking ahead now it will be another really fun challenge. I feel like a lot of the things that I did here will serve me well next week at the Country Club. The course was set up great this week and sort of major championship rough and needed to hit different types of shots to make sure you kept the ball in the short stuff. So, yeah, it was a great week this week and try and have some more fun next week.
Q. It's a great chapter for Canadian golf at some of the classic golf course, Hamilton, Saint G's Oakdale. Have you played Oakdale since the GAO Better Ball and what are you looking forward to at next year's RBC Canadian Open?
COREY CONNERS: I have not played since the GAO Better Ball. Remember the course being beautiful. Really looking forward to the RBC Canadian Open open now next year. I know they're going to put on another great show. It's been incredible the last few years and beyond excited to get back here in a year's time.
Q. Not sure if you heard this but while you were out on the course Brooke Henderson won her 11th title in New Jersey. She eagled on the par-5 18 in a playoff. I don't know if you heard, but what are your reactions to Brooke getting another win?
COREY CONNERS: I just hearing that. I'm blown away. She's incredibly talented. From all Canadians, congrats Brooke, that's really special. 11 wins on the LPGA Tour is so amazing. And I'm sure she's far from done with that. She's an incredible young lady and obviously an incredible player. So congrats, well done and enjoy a nice celebration.
Q. To bring it back to the U.S. Open next week, how do you prepare for that, given I know this is a demanding week for you and the other Canadians, Adam Hadwin is going to be playing as well, how do you stay up and stay like keep your energy up and stay physically fit?
COREY CONNERS: Yeah, I feel like I've learned over the last few years how to manage the energy, how to be ready to play and how to prepare for big championships. So I've got a good plan heading in, try and stick to it and just have some fun. I think I'm feeling still pretty energized, it was a fun day today and next week's going to be great as well.
