Quick Quotes

Q. A dominant performance this week during a dominant stretch on the PGA TOUR for you. To sleep on a six-stroke lead what did it take for you to stay within yourself today?

CAMERON YOUNG: Yeah, I think it was made easier by the weather forecast. We didn't know exactly how the day was going to go, whether we would be starting and stopping. Started with a delay. It was just one of those times that I feel like that played into my hands and just being really accepting of what came next. Just staying in what we were doing all day.

Q. You're just the third player in Doral history to win here in wire-to-wire fashion you told me mentally in your game you're built for tough courses. How did that help tame the Blue Monster?

CAMERON YOUNG: Like I said, I think when the golf course is difficult, when the conditions are difficult, that tend to make it easier for me mentally. Yeah, that's a big part of keeping yourself in it out here. It's difficult with the wind and the conditions were pretty benign today, but it is still a hard golf course and thankfully I was able to stay where my feet were and hit a bunch of good shots.

Q. You're already still well respected out here but you earned even a little bit more respect on the second hole today. Why was up holding the integrity of the game so important to you in that moment?

CAMERON YOUNG: Yeah, it's just one of those, your heart sinks when you see it move, but it moved and that's part of what golf's about. There was no one that was going to give me a penalty there but myself and I think I had about four of those on the PGA TOUR now, so I need to start setting the club down a little softer. But yeah just one of those times. I mean, I wasn't going to look the other way and say it didn't move when it rolled over an inch forward, so just unfortunate, but handled it really well.

Q. You absolutely did. When you look to your play dating back to the PLAYERS and obviously even before that it feels like we're watching you unlock different levels of yourself in realtime. What have you unlocked about yourself from then until now that you're most proud of?

CAMERON YOUNG: I think the self belief just continues to build. I put myself in plenty of good places over the course of the last four, five years of the recently I've started to come out on the better side of it. So, yeah, just excited for the next few weeks and moving on toward Charlotte and the PGA.

Q. Wire-to-wire win, at a very tough golf course, the famed Blue Monster. Of all the things you did this week what was the most impressive in getting this win do you think?

CAMERON YOUNG: To me I feel like I had different parts of the game working on different days. Today I drove it a lot better. First couple days I putted great and I drove it a little bit more all over the place. Thankfully I feel like I've got a lot of tools right now and throughout the week I was able to use different parts of the game to keep myself moving in the right direction.

Q. There was a little snafu back at the second hole, but you recovered from it remarkably. Is that just kind of showing how much you've gotten better as a player with a win at the Wyndham, your performance at the Ryder Cup, and your win last month at THE PLAYERS?

CAMERON YOUNG: Yeah, I think. So that's a really tough one to take. But, you know, the worst case realistically was I made bogey and I still had a three or four- or five-shot lead whatever it would have been at the time. Really unfortunate, and I really would like to have the one back that I had to give there, but at the end of the day if I had to pick a time to give one back it just wasn't the worst time.

Q. I'm going to ask you to jump forward just a fraction. Your game is in perfect shape right now, you're hitting your stride. How excited are you to play in all three majors in the upcoming season?

CAMERON YOUNG: Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. Major season is a great time of year only the PGA TOUR. We go to a great event next week in Charlotte at the Truist, so that's where I'm going now and obviously eyes are toward the PGA, but I've got a tournament to play between now and then.
