J. SINNER/F. Fognini
6-3, 3-6, 6-3
THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.
Q. How did you get through that match? Talk about the atmosphere as well.
JANNIK SINNER: Well, it was obviously a tough match. I knew that before already before the match. Especially in the second set, he raised his level incredibly. I tried to stay focus on what I have to do.
In the third set the key was who was making the first break. Then up 4-1, I played a couple of unforced errors, then he was back in play.
I have to say I'm very happy about today's match because it was a difficult match. I know him. He knows me. Especially here in Rome playing together, it was unfortunate because we were the last two Italians left in the draw.
Let's see how it goes the next round.
Q. I saw he wrote Forza Milan. How big a fan are you?
JANNIK SINNER: Yeah, I watch obviously every match. I went immediately to apologize to Fabio because I was not thinking about that. But we had a little chat. Everything is fine. We had a little laugh.
Yeah, it was just instinct, you know, because I know Sunday we have important matches. But it was nothing personal. It was just my instinct. Then after I felt, yeah, a little bit guilty. I went straight to Fabio to tell him it was nothing personal. It's all fine.
