J. DRAPER/C. Moutet
1-6, 6-4, 6-3
Q. Crazy match, high quality. How do you feel about how you played today, the match in general?
CORENTIN MOUTET: Yeah, it's a mixed of feeling. I'm satisfied about my game, of course. My performance. I think it was a high level today. But I'm disappointed because I felt like I had the match and I could win it. Of course, I was not sure.
He deserve it so much. He deserve it to win. But yeah, I feel like I could do a bit better, like stay more aggressive till the last point. At this level, if you're not perfect in some details, it's tough to win. So yeah, I'm a bit disappointed.
I have some regrets on some shot. Yeah, but congrats to him. He is such a great player. I tried until the last point to play at his level. I think I did a good performance today.
Q. In these matches it seems like your mind is always working, you're trying to outsmart the opponent. How tough is that to maintain across three sets?
CORENTIN MOUTET: The thing is that's not the only thing. You have to be here physically. You have to be here tennistically. Mentally, of course. You have to stay focused.
At the same time it's not only about focus. It's about, like, being aggressive every point, hit the ball every time I have the opportunity to make him run. I mean, it's literally like every second you have to be the best version of yourself. It's not easy. I did very well in the first set. As we can all see, it's very hard to maintain all the match.
At the same time this guy played a lot of matches this intensity, so he's more used to it than me. He's got more experience.
But yeah, very good player.
Q. What did you think about the video reviews?
CORENTIN MOUTET: Well, they decided to give the point to him. They were right, you know? There is nothing to discuss about. It's good that we have the review so we can see again the point. The referee took the decision.
Jack felt that way, so I trust him.
Q. Someone was saying you thought maybe it bounced into the ground is that right?
CORENTIN MOUTET: That's what I thought. That is why I asked for the review. But the review showed something else, so yeah...
Q. What makes Jack such a tough opponent?
CORENTIN MOUTET: He's very aggressive. He serve good. He hit his forehand very powerful. You always have to put pressure on him. If I play an easy ball with a bit less intensity, I'm going to run so much. Yeah, attack on every second serve. I don't know. He's one of the best this year on clay, on hard court. I don't know. Was the first time I play with him. Very intense.
