C. ALCARAZ/L. Musetti
6-3, 7-6
THE MODERATOR: Questions.
Q. Just about today, really tough, windy conditions. How do you feel you handled them? How do you feel about your performance today?
LORENZO MUSETTI: Honestly, yeah, today was tough day for me. Honestly, I entered on court with such a great mentality. But then afterwards, after the first point, honestly I start to struggle with keeping that attitude that I show in the past months, in the past week, that help me to come back from various situation and from various difficult moments of the last matches.
Today was, yeah, of course the wind, shadow. Everything was complicated for me. I couldn't feel the ball really well honestly.
But I think both of us, we couldn't show our tennis. At least for me, was so complicated to play. I was too much focus on the negative things today. That's why I'm very disappointed about the chance that I miss to try.
A little bit of, of course, disappointment for that.
Q. How tough is it then when you obviously really want to do well here against a big opponent, how tough is it to keep your composure? What do you think you'll do differently to try to keep it next time?
LORENZO MUSETTI: Yeah, I mean, I don't know how many matches I played since Monte-Carlo. I think I never in my career so far managed to have, like, 15 or whatever matches that I played before this match. To be there, to play each point, to have a great attitude, a great consistency...
So for me, of course, coming with many, many matches with a good consistency, it's something that I never experienced. Definitely that has to be one point where you have the bad day. Today was.
Of course, wasn't the right moment, honestly, to be the bad day at the office. But happens. Of course, what can I say? I mean, better here than in the semis of Paris. I don't know what I have to say.
Of course, it's a lessons for the next event that's even bigger than this one. A lot of things that I learn also by this loss.
Q. Given you've won a lot of matches, you've been playing great tennis, how much confidence does that give you for Roland Garros?
LORENZO MUSETTI: Yeah, I felt a lot of improvements on my game, on my attitude. Of course, not speaking about today. In general terms, I think I improved as a player and as the daily work that I'm putting in. It's every time with a lot of high intensity and good training. That's something that I really look for to have also in the next week before preparing the French Open.
Of course, I have a lot of ambition and I want to do well because I think I deserve it to do well for the level that I'm showing. I don't want to be focusing too much on the negative performance that I played today, but try to take as a lesson to be more prepared in the next tournament.
