A. ZVEREV/M. Berrettini
7-6, 1-0 (ret.)
Q. How satisfied were you with your level of play before Matteo was forced to retire?
ALEXANDER ZVEREV: Yeah, I think it was a very high level first set, to be honest. I had a lot of chances, didn't quite get the chance to use them, but at the end of the day it was a good first set and I was happy to win it. But then of course, yeah, things turned not so good after that.
Q. Since it's very difficult to talk about what's happened on court today, I wanted to ask you, what will change on Tuesday against Medvedev compared to match play in Paris 10 days ago?
ALEXANDER ZVEREV: I will not be as tired, hopefully, as the starting point.
Look, he's the No. 2 player in the world, I'm No. 3 player in the world, we're two very good level players. I'm going to give myself the best chance to perform well and to win and hopefully I can do that and we'll see how it goes.
Q. Difficult night, but for you with your game looking forward to the rest of the event what are you most happy with at the moment?
ALEXANDER ZVEREV: I thought I returned the first serve pretty well. Matteo was serving extremely well.
I thought I played from the baseline pretty okay. I know that, obviously, the matches, there's no easy matches here and I'm looking forward to what's ahead.
