C. ALCARAZ/H. Hurkacz
7-6, 7-6
Q. Anything you didn't expect that surprised you?
HUBERT HURKACZ: No, I mean, he's great player, great competitor. So definitely was very challenging to play against him because he was playing really great tennis.
Congrats to him. He's great.
Q. How happy are you with your performance tonight?
HUBERT HURKACZ: Not at all. I mean, not at all (smiling). I mean, I think I can play better than this. But he's definitely brought a high level. He was playing very good throughout the whole match.
I mean, I was trying my best. You know, just, you know, he played a little better today than me.
Q. Close game, but what happened in the last tiebreak?
HUBERT HURKACZ: I mean, he won the tiebreaker, so, yeah, that happened. I mean, yeah, he played couple of good points.
I mean, I missed few shots. Was (indiscernible) from my side but just missed them. Yeah, that's how it is.
Q. Do you look across the net when you are playing him and think, God, he's only 18 years old, how come I'm not beating him?
HUBERT HURKACZ: No, I mean, definitely he's playing insane for his age. It's really incredible how he plays, how he competes. No, definitely it's something special the way he plays at this age.
Really, he has amazing career in front of him. It's crazy how good he plays.
Q. You dropshot quite often. Maybe combination of hard hit and dropshot makes you a little bit tough to play. How do you feel about the way he's playing?
HUBERT HURKACZ: No, I mean, definitely he played very smart, so he was doing great job on the court. He was seeing the game, and he was playing well.
Q. Your words to Miami. This is your house. You are the last champion and semifinalist this year.
HUBERT HURKACZ: I mean, love the city, love Miami. The atmosphere is always great here. I mean, the people are super nice. I love playing here. So, I mean, very happy.
I mean, to play the final in doubles tomorrow. You know, wasn't meant to be this year in singles, but I played a couple of really good matches here. Really enjoy here.
Q. Will you watch Iga playing?
HUBERT HURKACZ: I mean, playing doubles after, so yeah.
Q. What's next for you and your calendar? What's the next tournament?
HUBERT HURKACZ: I'm going to prepare in Monte-Carlo for the tournament there. So now I move on to clay court.
