Andy Murray

Press Conference

A. RUBLEV/A. Murray

7-6, 6-1

THE MODERATOR: Questions for Andy.

Q. I'd like to start off with just a very general question. If you had to step back and say the one thing that in your incredible career where you have done so much, what to you gives you the most satisfaction about this career that you have had?

ANDY MURRAY: Most satisfaction... I'd say probably, yeah, when I look back, when I finish, I think, like I'm sure all the players when they finish playing look back and probably wish there are things they would have done differently or could have done better. But I feel like, you know, I gave it, you know, a pretty good go. You know, I worked, I did work hard, I put a lot into it. You know, I didn't, yeah, I didn't miss many days of training through lack of discipline or poor decisions. And, yeah, gave it a good go.

So in that aspect, yeah, I can't have too many regrets with that. There's obviously matches and things and maybe decisions that I have made that I regret and wish I could have, you know, had another go at, but, yeah, gave it a good go.

Q. Your thoughts on today's match.

ANDY MURRAY: Yeah, I did pretty well in the first set and probably, you know, had maybe done enough to maybe nick it at the end there. I didn't play a great tiebreak. You know, he was very good behind his first serve. And his forehand, obviously when he had time, is one of the best in the game. Certainly not easy to defend against that sort of power.

But it was, you know, putting the ball in difficult positions, making it hard for him. I just was disappointed I didn't connect on enough second-serve returns. I think that was really the key for me anyway in the first set. If I connected on a few more second-serve returns when he was under pressure and found his backhand side, you know, I probably could have got the set. But I didn't do that.

And then, yeah, second set was obviously had a couple of chances in his first two service games. I didn't get them. Obviously I got broken from 40-Love up and played a poor game at 4-1. But yeah, no more than that.

Q. Andy, you said a few weeks ago about whether this was going to be your last year, et cetera, getting through the summer and whatnot, but is it getting frustrating and a bit boring for that question coming up press conference after press conference?

ANDY MURRAY: Well, yeah. I feel like no one is listening to me (laughter). I mean, yeah, I'm planning on finishing in the summer. I don't know what more I can -- yeah, I don't know what more I'm supposed to say. I've been getting asked about it for, yeah, 18 months or so, and it's obviously something I have thought about, but, you know, I hadn't made a decision on.

Once I have made the decision, I have expressed that, and no one is listening to it. So I don't really understand why I keep getting asked, to be honest (smiling). Yeah.
