Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: How excited are you to play the 2026 WTA Finals?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: I'm very excited to qualify for WTA Finals in singles. Yeah, I was able to qualify doubles last year. Obviously it's a whole new story to be able to qualify in singles. Very, very happy with how my season went and super excited to be here.

THE MODERATOR: First question...

Q. Welcome back to Indian Wells. Obviously you've had a lot of success here in the past years. How much of that do you think is maybe relevant for you to lean on in terms of experience to help you through a tournament that's a different format?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: Yeah, of course knowing that I was able to play well here last couple of years obviously gives me a little more confidence.

At the same time I feel like every single player that is playing this tournament also knows how to play great on every single surface.

I don't know. I just know the fact that I love playing here. I love playing in Indian Wells. I love the surface. I love the atmosphere, as well.

I know for sure that I'm just going to enjoy my time here.

Q. A fashion question for you. We saw the photos that were released this morning. How much do you enjoy that side of things? How much input did you have on your outfit? Did you have fun shooting with the other players?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: Yeah, of course. I actually loved what we did this year. It was very, very different, very interesting. You know, also the fact that I was able to wear my outfit. When I found out it was also a Chanel, a runway look, I was like, Okay, I take it. I loved the way it looked. I loved the colors.

I also enjoyed a lot shooting in a different kind of scenario with a lot of different groups, a lot of different pictures. I had so much fun also.

I'm also very happy with how it all turned out.

Q. As a young person who is likely on social media in some form, as a professional athlete, a person in the spotlight, how do you balance that, sort of the young fun part of social media and knowing that sometimes people aren't the kindest on social?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: Yeah, I think it's also very important to of course find a balance between that.

What I do out of my own experience, I just try to not spend as much time on social media. I don't know. I can always just see what the official accounts are posting. I like to post some photos myself.

Obviously I try not to really go deep in what people say. I don't know. Not really, yeah, read anything at all. Whenever I do whatever I need to do, then I'm just out of social media and I don't really spend much time there.

Q. This season you reached 50 wins. What are you most proud of in terms of how your game has evolved this year?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: It's a hard question.

I think I am happy with how I was able to transfer from all the different surfaces and play somewhat good. We just don't count the grass season. Like, we just forget it was there. It's like it didn't exist (smiling).

I'm just happy with, I don't know, how overall my preparation was looking before every tournament. I feel like now I'm getting more and more experience on how to do the prep before the tournaments, how the practice blocks look before the tournaments, as well.

I'm happy with the amount of work that me and Conchita put in the practices and during the tournaments, as well. I think there's obviously a lot of room for improvement with me. We both know that. We're still working towards improving my game even more.

I'm happy with how my serve evolved. I'm happy with the fact that I'm trying to be more aggressive, that I'm trying to feel more confident on the court, as well.

There are a lot of things that I could name, but still a lot of things that I could say need a lot of improvement.

Q. There's a car at stake. Have you seen it? Have you gotten a driver's license yet?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: Well, I do not have my driver's license yet. I'm planning on getting it maybe in the end of this year - maybe (smiling).

Actually we used this car for the photo shoot. I was able to sit inside. Obviously I played with it a little bit. They didn't give me the key, unfortunately. I don't know. It's a very nice car. Very comfortable.

Even if I do not have my driver's license, as I say many times, I know how to drive. I know how to, you know, get around in the car. It's not going to be a problem.

It's going to be a very, very nice prize for the winner.

Q. Are you saying you've driven without a driver's license?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: No, I am not saying that (laughter). I am not saying that at all. I have not driven. I just believe in myself that I can drive the car without a driver's license. But I will not do that. I will only do that when I get the license (laughter).
