Team Germany - 2
Team Argentina - 1
THE MODERATOR: Let's start with questions for Sascha.
Q. How crucial was the singles to get Germany back into play?
ALEXANDER ZVEREV: Yeah, also super happy with the win and the match. Cerundolo is someone that is very difficult for me. I felt like I played a very good first set. Poor moments in the second, played my best tennis, so...
Was super happy with the win. Getting Germany back in the tie, then the doubles guys somehow managing to win, it was very important.
Q. You didn't seem to like too much this format of the Davis Cup. The emotions in this Davis Cup are unbelievable. Do you in a way change your mind suffering for your team in the tiebreaks or nothing changes?
ALEXANDER ZVEREV: I will always do that. I will always do that. I will always play at 100%. I will always support my team.
But don't you think it's maybe somewhere a little bit sad that this kind of match and the doubles, maybe maximum a thousand people in the stadium. If we play in Argentina or Germany, there will be maybe 15,000 people. In that regards, I think it's a bit sad.
Now I'm here and I will do everything I can to make Germany win.
Q. The doubles is 33% of the points. That also is something that you would like to change or not? 20% is something, 33% is something else.
ALEXANDER ZVEREV: This is the format we're playing in. It's a little bit of an irrelevant question. To change the percentage of how many doubles points there are, you have to change the format again. When we're playing this format where it's one day, it's going to be two singles and one doubles. That's just the way it is.
Q. It's late night, but I hear your voice a bit different.
ALEXANDER ZVEREV: Yeah, I have no voice.
Q. You shouted for your teammates.
ALEXANDER ZVEREV: I have no voice anymore. It's like after I went partying at a nightclub. It's like this.
Q. No concern for health or anything?
ALEXANDER ZVEREV: No.
Q. The voice and the doubles match, pretty spectacular.
ALEXANDER ZVEREV: Yeah.
Q. What were you shouting to your teammates? What were the emotions you were feeling during that match?
ALEXANDER ZVEREV: Yeah, I mean, unbelievable. To win that, I don't know how they did it. I mean, the third set was back and forth, so many break points for Team Argentina. I don't think Germany had any.
Of course, super happy for the whole team to be through. The tiebreak, first it looked like it was going to be an easy tiebreak for us. All of a sudden it's match point for Argentina on their serve. Then it's another match point for Argentina where Tim serves a second serve at 200 kilometers an hour.
A lot of things happened, a lot of things went our way. Just super happy to win.
Q. After your singles match, Francisco had some nice words about you, because what you told him when you finished the match. What would you say about him as a tennis player, person?
ALEXANDER ZVEREV: I think the whole Argentinian team, I know Francisco very well, I know Tommy very well, they're two of the nicest guys on tour. They're incredibly nice.
For me, my personal opinion, you can take it as a compliment, you can take it maybe as a negative thing, but for me Francisco should be higher in the ranking than he is. He should find something inside of him why that is the reason and work on that. For me, on clay and also on hard court, the way he played today, he should be very close or even top 10. This is my opinion.
I played against him multiple, multiple times. He's beaten me multiple times. I've always said the same thing. For me he's much better than his ranking.
