Team Czechia - 1
THE MODERATOR: Marketa, welcome. Questions in English.
Q. Unlucky there in the end. Can you sum up your feelings and your thoughts on the match as a whole?
MARKETA VONDROUSOVA: Yeah. I feel like it was a great match, and she played I think amazing shots. Yeah, I was a bit unlucky in the third set. Yeah, I felt like the second game maybe could have changed the set, but yeah, anyway, that's tennis. I mean, we played a great match.
Q. It was a bit of a slower start for you. Can you explain, like, was there any specific reasons, what your feelings were at that point? You really pushed it to the limit in the end, though.
MARKETA VONDROUSOVA: Yeah, I mean, she was playing great since the beginning. I felt like maybe she was maybe more aggressive and I needed to find the rhythm maybe and, you know, the right shots.
Then I came back strong, and yeah, I feel like, you know, from the second set we really played a great match. It was very tough. I feel like she was, you know, fighting and she was playing amazing.
Q. Could I just ask how reassuring it is when you do lose a match in the singles, when you've got a very formidable doubles pairing, how reassuring is it for you at this stage of a tie?
MARKETA VONDROUSOVA: Yeah, I mean, you always want to win. You know, we were 1-0 up. So yeah, for me, you know, I want to win every match. I feel, you know, here it's a bit different. Everybody is playing for their country, so they are fighting so much.
Even when you have great doubles, it's never easy. So I hope, you know, girls can keep up their great doubles, and then we'll see.
Q. Three sets of course today. You have been in Seville almost a week now. Before that you were in Cancun. Before that you were somewhere else. How are you feeling physically after what must be 10, 11 months now on the tour this year?
MARKETA VONDROUSOVA: Yeah, I felt good today. You know, I was fighting till the end, so I feel like you have to, you know, if you want to play here.
Yeah, I'm feeling okay. I'm playing a year in a row now since my injury. It's been a tough year, you know, but overall I still feel good.
Q. The final game, you had Love-40 on Leylah's serve, you must have felt as though the match was still there for you in that last game. Tell us about that.
MARKETA VONDROUSOVA: Yeah, I mean, I was close to 4-5, but then she played amazing shots. I was a bit unlucky on the match point.
Yeah, I felt like she deserved the game. She was smashing the ball so hard, so I couldn't do much there.
