C. DOLEHIDE/S. Kenin
7-5, 6-3
Q. Caroline, congratulations on the win. Your first final in the tour. How do you feel, how do you expect tomorrow?
CAROLINE DOLEHIDE: How do I expect tomorrow? To be honest, I'm just looking forward to tonight. I have that doubles coming up.
Tomorrow being in a final is really exciting for me. I've never been in such a big final. We're all very excited, very happy, but the job's not done.
Q. I wanted to ask you, how do you feel your week so far? Because it's been, you have had a lot of matches between singles and doubles, and also matches where you have to make a comeback. How are you feeling also physically, and mentally, of course?
CAROLINE DOLEHIDE: Yeah, especially mentally here with the altitude, with the night, the day matches, how different the conditions are. I feel really strong. I feel like I've learned a lot this week. That's what it's all about, right, finding a way to win. So that's really been what I've been doing, finding a way.
Q. How do you feel playing in Guadalajara with the weather, and how do you feel for the next game in doubles?
CAROLINE DOLEHIDE: Yeah, I love Guadalajara. I've always loved Guadalajara. I've come here the last three consecutive years, even during the COVID year. I've enjoyed my time here. The tournament directors, the staff, the ball girls, ball boys, the refs, everyone is amazing here.
The facility is incredible. They have done so many upgrades over the last few years. There's just only good things to say about this place, and I hope to come back next year.
Q. Could you say that this is the best week for you in the WTA Tour, for this final, and what do you think has been the key to have success in Mexico, because you were in the doubles final in Monterrey two years ago, so how could you describe Mexico for you?
CAROLINE DOLEHIDE: Yeah, Mexico, I love Mexico. Like, I always love coming back. I always love the people, the fans. The staff, everyone's so attentive to everything. You all are just massive tennis fans. So I feel welcome. We all feel welcome here.
To the first question about how do I feel after my biggest career win, I would say that this is the biggest career singles week of my life. So I feel really proud of myself, proud of the work that I've put in. I'm proud of the work that my team has put in. As hard as I work, they work, so it's a team effort. I'm just really looking forward to tomorrow.
Q. Just one more question, please. Now that you are in the finals here in Guadalajara, can you give us an opinion about the salaries of women in tennis right now? What are your expectations for the next year or the next years, I mean, for getting the same money as men, yeah?
CAROLINE DOLEHIDE: If you're referring to what the WTA's doing with the plan, the financial plan, I think it's great that all the tournaments are starting to move in the right direction. They're speeding up the process even. So I think, from what it looks like, it looks like it's going in the right direction.
