Q. Maybe you could just start by talking what it's like to be here in Shanghai. This is your first visit to the city?
JANNIK SINNER: Yeah, first time for me here, first time in China. So I'm very happy to be here. Everyone talked really nice about the tournament, and I can approve that it's an awesome tournament, awesome venue, and I'm really happy to finally be here. It's going to be, hopefully, a fun week, so let's see how it could be.
Q. And a very successful trip for you so far coming off the title in Beijing. You must be feeling very good.
JANNIK SINNER: Yeah, for sure. I mean, I came in yesterday, so I had today one practice session and then tomorrow I play, so there was not so many things that I can see from Shanghai at the moment, but I'm very happy, you know.
As I said, first time in China, I won one tournament, so I'm very happy about that, and hopefully, I can show some good tennis also here.
Q. And your first opponent here is Giron. Your thoughts on that match.
JANNIK SINNER: Yeah, I played against him some years ago. He's a very, very good player, moving very, very fast, so it's going to be a very difficult match for me, especially first rounds are never easy. He played already one match. So let's see. I'm very focused and obviously happy to be here, so hopefully, I can start off in a positive way.
Q. You look at the honor roll of this tournament, you've got champions like Novak and Roger and Rafa, but you've come in and you've won Beijing. Do you feel like you're sort of part of the new era of tennis now?
JANNIK SINNER: Yeah, I mean, it's obviously a huge privilege that I can play the same tournament as the best players of the history of tennis. It feels great to be here, first of all. You also have to enjoy the moment because if not, we play throughout the whole year, and so you have to enjoy it. It's really nice, but in another way, I know that I can play really good tennis, and I enjoy the time.
I have a really good connection with the fans also, so it's nice that I can play here. Hopefully, I can show some good tennis like last week and let's see how it goes.
Q. Can we ask you about your trophy in Beijing when Daniil took the toy? He was saying that it was his toy.
JANNIK SINNER: Yeah, it is his.
Q. I thought he was taking your toy.
JANNIK SINNER: No, no, no. So he had the same toy as I had, but we took the picture, and he put it in because of the picture, and then when he went away, he took it.
Q. And your face was like this (indicating).
JANNIK SINNER: No, no, because I asked him, Tomorrow you go by train or you fly? And I say, Hey, where you going?
