D. MEDVEDEV/S. Tsitsipas
7-6, 6-3
Q. Daniil, congratulations, another win for you here in Shanghai. Do you feel like you're warming up to a big tournament campaign?
DANIIL MEDVEDEV: Hopefully. I mean, I actually felt like I played better the first two matches than today. It was different court, a bit less big, so usually it's a bit tougher to control the ball when the court is like this, a bit windy.
So, generally still happy with my level, happy with the way I played tactically, with the way I managed to control the match, and looking forward.
Q. How are you feeling physically?
DANIIL MEDVEDEV: Not too bad, but, strangely enough, probably the end of the season here, this tournament, like usually my body's, my body type is more like it gets tired throughout the tournament, and just the tougher the match of the day, the tougher in general it is. Here, just one muscle by one muscle. It was one day the glutes, one day the other glute, today the shoulder a bit, and very like small niggles, I would even say, like something small. So, I'm going to treat it, and hopefully tomorrow there's going to be nothing new.
Q. Did you enjoy the conditions out there on court?
DANIIL MEDVEDEV: Yeah, it was, I felt like it was fun crowd and fun energy, yeah, I felt good there.
Q. Jannik Sinner next, you played a lot of matches this year.
DANIIL MEDVEDEV: Yeah, this year is fifth already. Yeah, probably didn't play anyone more. What is it? 3-1 to him? I feel like some matches were close, some less.
But, look, I can play well against him. I know it, it's going to be tough, he's the best player in the world right now. Yeah, I need to play my best, need to serve well, physically it's going to be tough, but I'm ready to bring a battle.
Q. You still have some argue with the chair umpire in the second set. Did you feel disturbed or just okay for you?
DANIIL MEDVEDEV: No, I mean, I argue a lot with umpires. So I was just waiting, and I knew that, no, just need to stay focused on myself, because sometimes it's not easy after, like, some break to regroup yourself. Because actually what happens when you argue with the umpire, sometimes it distracts you, not in a good way. I think that's what happened. Sometimes it does give you the extra push for, like, Oh, my God, everyone is against me. So I knew that I need to stay tough, and I managed to serve well and get the break, so, yeah, pretty happy about my level.
Q. Some fans waved a funny picture to support you. Did you see that?
DANIIL MEDVEDEV: Oh, yeah, I see it all the time. I think I signed it one of the first days. I didn't see it during the match, but as I said, I get a lot of love in China, in Shanghai I think even more maybe than other cities, and I love it here and hopefully, yeah, I can go for more.
Q. What do you think about the matchup with Sinner?
DANIIL MEDVEDEV: With Sinner, yeah, I mean, we played already four times this year. I think one was very easy for him. The other three were tougher, I played well in some of them. I'm going to bring the fight, I'm going to prepare tactically, mentally, physically. It's going to be a tough match, so hopefully my body feels well, and I'm ready, yeah, to bring the fight and go for it.
