THE MODERATOR: How does it feel to be back here again? You had a busy schedule today. How do you feel right now?
WANG XIYU: Well, be in big tournament, always getting busy. But I think was way too busy. For me cannot training, too. So everything is going well.
THE MODERATOR: Chinese questions.
Q. Congratulations on your win Guangzhou. It was a tough match in Ningbo. After two days, you are in Beijing. How is your preparation? You might be exhausted from the previous matches. And your first-round opponent, any preparation for that?
WANG XIYU: First of all, I think it's a really good exercise. With this match, I think I have enough time for adjustment and preparation. It's an accumulation of experience. Every good player needs to face these kind of conditions. After two days, I'm feeling much better. I'm fully ready for the next match.
Kvitova is my next opponent. I feel really happy, excited that I have the chance to learn from her. I'm left-handed, so I really look forward to this match. It will be a really good opportunity for me, too.
Q. Today is the Mid Autumn Festival. Any celebrations with your family? How do you usually celebrate?
WANG XIYU: Of course, you eat moon cakes. I like the salted egg yolk one.
Best memories would be with my family for this very important festival. That's the most important thing to me. I'm very happy to be here to celebrate this festival at the China Open.
Q. You didn't talk about your title in Guangzhou. With such performance you need more time to reflect on its impact on you. After Ningbo, now you're here. After a week, what's the biggest change you have felt after winning your first title in Guangzhou?
WANG XIYU: In Guangzhou, I think there's a lot of things that require reflection, digestion: what did you do well, what things I need to improve so that I can prepare for bigger events.
I'm still learning. There's a lot of details I need to improve upon. For example, the semifinal. I have learned a lot of things in that match and I am trying to reflect on that match and see if I can improve.
Q. After four years, we're finally back in China in front of the home crowd. You won your first title here in China. You felt the support in Guangzhou. How do you feel?
WANG XIYU: Well, first of all, I'm extremely happy going back to the Asian Swing, back in China. I'm very excited.
When I was watching the crowd cheering for me, I was honored and it was heartwarming because when I was competing in other countries, I wouldn't be receiving such support and encouragement, at least at that level.
I think the Chinese fans' encouragement really supported me in these critical moments. Something I will cherish and value for a long time.
