Alejandro Falla

Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.

Q. Obviously not the way you wanted it to go. Talk about the pride you have in your team, the way you fought this weekend.

ALEJANDRO FALLA: Yeah, I think that's the things I take from here. Nicolas played very good two matches. I think he got to be proud of himself for the way he play.

We knew we were facing a very strong team. USA has so many good players with experience. So we tried our best in every match.

I mean, unfortunately today Robert Farah, he couldn't come to court. To try to beat Jack and Rajeev, you have to be ready to play. Experienced guys. Unfortunately couldn't make it.

Also we missed Daniel here, so... It's a very important piece of our team.

But we competed the best we could. I mean, we gave everything we had out there on the court. That's what I take from here.

Q. Talk about the pressure as a captain putting together a team, finding out you are without two of your top guys.

ALEJANDRO FALLA: Yeah, it wasn't easy. It wasn't easy when Daniel told me he couldn't make it to come here. I spoke to Alejandro, he was ready. Unfortunately it's also unfortunate that he faced a very strong player yesterday, as Taylor played unbelievable.

I think today was tough. We always have a strong doubles team, we can be favorite over every team. That was our big hope to be alive and play the fourth match.

I mean, just congratulations to the USA because they did what they had to do. Now we have to keep working. I mean, Nicolas is going to be one important piece for us in the future. He's playing great tennis in Davis Cup. Also let's hope that Daniel recovered well and he can play September.

Q. I'd like to ask about Jack Sock and his forehand. Could you talk about his forehand, maybe how it compares to others.

ALEJANDRO FALLA: I mean, it's a joke, the way he hits a forehand. He's so fast. There is no way you know where he wants to go. He does what he wants to do with the forehand. He plays the ball anywhere he wants. Acceleration he's got is just unbelievable.

I saw him in Turin. I was still surprised. I saw him here today. He still surprise me every time he hits a forehand. I think, yeah, everyone is afraid of being at the net when he's hitting forehands.

Q. Can you compare it to others?

ALEJANDRO FALLA: I think he's up there, I mean, top three all time fastest forehands. Everyone knows that. Hopefully he gets better and better because he's so competitive. We all want him to play at the same level he used to play.
