Team Czechia - 2
Team Italy - 0
THE MODERATOR: Tough luck to Team Italy. Obviously Karolina and Tomas were at the top of their game today. Can you just assess your performance overall.
JASMINE PAOLINI: Yeah, I think they played two great matches. Me personally, I had many chances, but I didn't take any one. It was a long match but it was 6-2, 6-2. That's weird, you know, but I think she played better than me, of course, the important points.
Even when she was down in the game, she was playing unbelievable. Me, sometimes the point didn't even start, like a missed return or serve.
Was a bad match, because I had many chance, I think, so...
FLAVIO COBOLLI: Yeah, I just finished, so yeah, also for me it was a tough match today. He played better than me, of course, every point today, and I let him play good. So, I mean, I'm sad because, I mean, we wanted to finish the competition in another result, but, you know, it's tennis, and we have to think of the next week.
THE MODERATOR: Questions?
Q. Tough luck, but great tournament to both of you. Jasmine, just facing Karolina, it's a tough matchup. Do you find that the more difficult thing is that you can't play the game you want to play against her or that you can't stop her from playing the game that she plays against you?
JASMINE PAOLINI: I think I have to find a solution with her, because maybe I won a set in all the matches, and then, yeah, it's tough to play against her, but I believe that there is a way to at least, you know, be in the match, because today at one point I was in the match, but when I had the important moments when I had to, you know, try to stay there, to keep her, like, near in the score, I didn't do a good job.
So I have to find another way to play against her, of course, and have in my mind but for the next one hopefully. Hopefully it's going to be better, you know, but she's playing unbelievable.
I think she's playing unbelievable. She said that I'm playing well, but I think that she said that because every time she won against me, she beat me (smiling). That's why maybe she likes how I play because she beat me (smiling).
Q. Flavio, Tomas played a really strong match, and he was playing a lot of spectacular shots during the match. Did that affect your focus in any way, or was it just that he was playing so well that it was hard to get rhythm in the match?
FLAVIO COBOLLI: No, I mean, I was focused on my game. Of course he played spectacular point, but it's his game, so I don't care about the spectacular point, but I'm sad about the result.
Q. In terms of your preparation, both of you, for the Australian Open, how are you feeling about that?
JASMINE PAOLINI: I think both of us, we play, like, three matches here. It's great to have already three matches in Australia.
You know, today for both of us was tough, but I think it's a great preparation for the Australian Open. Yeah, hopefully it's going good there.
Q. Flavio, or just for both of you, just how nice is it to start your season in this way with the team and representing your country and beginning your year on that note?
FLAVIO COBOLLI: Yeah, for me it's the perfect way to start the season in the team. We are, all of us, great friends, so it's important to have a big group to start the season. Yeah, we have fun on all days, so I like it.
JASMINE PAOLINI: For me as well it's a great competition, and I think it's also nice for the spectators to see something different, you know. I think it's also perfect to have this competition at the beginning of the year, because you come here and at least you play two matches plus doubles.
So personally, I really like it. I don't know. I came already two years, and I don't know for the next what will be, but I like it.
