D. GALAN/J. Kubler
2-6, 6-3, 7-6, 4-6, 7-6
Q. Thoughts about the match?
JASON KUBLER: Weird emotion. Very disappointed after that match. At the same time I felt like I gave myself the best chance to win. Probably just didn't execute the right way in certain moments. That probably let me down.
But I guess if I'm looking big picture, this is my second tournament after coming back from knee surgery. It gives me confidence knowing that I can do five sets. I don't know if it's as well as I want, but I can get through five sets.
It gives me confidence that it's improving, it's getting better. When I go back to the three-set matches, I should be pretty confident getting through them.
But, no, I get along with Danny really well. It was cool to share a match like that together. I wish him the best in the second round. Not sure who he plays. If he's feeling anything like me, he's going to be pretty sore tomorrow.
Q. He certainly pulled out some big weapons.
JASON KUBLER: I knew going into the match that his serve and his forehand were his main strengths. I had to sort of implement my game style, maybe get to his backhand a little bit.
I think I did do that, but then at the same time in some other moments I didn't do it as well as I could have. Lots of good and some bad coming out of the match.
Just spoke to my coach there. We're going to focus on improving. Obviously it sucks right now, but I can't dwell on it too long. That's probably not healthy.
