C. ALCARAZ/B. Zapata Miralles

6-2, 2-6, 6-1, 7-6

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.

Q. Carlos, obviously a big win for you today. How key was it for you to sort of fight through the fourth set? How much were you focusing on not letting it go on and on into a fifth set?

CARLOS ALCARAZ: Well, I think it has been a tough match against a great player like Zapata, a real tough player. Yeah, I think when I won the third set, I think he's going a bit down on the beginning of the fourth.

But, yeah, he still playing really, really well on the fourth. I had to be focus with his shots. Yeah, I think I played a really, really good game on the fourth, going down all the set. I think on the tiebreak I go for the match, yeah, I think I will be on the tiebreak better than him.

Q. You've been working on the physical side the past couple years. You had three qualifying matches. How much has that work paid off for you?

CARLOS ALCARAZ: Well, I think the mental game is really, really important in this kind of matches. You have to be focus and calm all the match, like 3 hours and 10 minutes. It's really important and not easy to do.

Yeah, in the match I trust a lot in my physical, yeah. I could play really, really good game during the whole match.
