THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.

Q. What was it like this week for you, getting the unexpected walkover from Osaka, and how did that affect your tournament and your thoughts about it?

ANA BOGDAN: Well, it was, first of all, it was a big surprise for me, because I was very focused and really getting ready for the match. I got the news that she's not gonna play, so it was a little bit difficult to have so many days off. I tried to do my work and to stay really focused until the day of the next match.

So that's what I did.

Q. What was your reaction when you saw the news?

ANA BOGDAN: Well, in one side, of course I was happy, let's say happy, because I knew I'm going to be third round. But in the other hand, I was not happy when I saw what's going on with her and what she wrote out there, because I have been through depression and anxiety actually this year, beginning of the year, and it's not something very easy to handle.

So I hope she's gonna find her way and she's gonna be back on tour soon.

Q. You seemed to play pretty well, though, you were, very close in this match. Did you feel you were able to prepare fully eventually and take advantage of this opportunity?

ANA BOGDAN: Yeah. I think it was a great match for both of us, and she played amazing. I also gave, like, I really gave my heart out there (smiling). I fight for every ball, every single ball, and I really wanted to win.

It was hard. I should say somehow I'm proud of myself, because I'm coming after quite a hard period. She also was a really tough player, because she's had the best results in her career in the last couple of months.

So I knew it's gonna be really hard to play against her, but I was there. Every point I was there. It was so close.
