D. SCHWARTZMAN/P. Kohlschreiber

6-4, 6-2, 6-1

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.

Q. It seems like you have turned on something here that you were missing earlier this spring. Do you feel just more confident here after October, or what's going on?

DIEGO SCHWARTZMAN: Well, I think the beginning of the year was good for me. It was not easy. You know, you have to be careful about, you know, the South American players and what about the European players every single time, because we are traveling -- I mean, myself and I know many guys from Latin America we are traveling since, I don't know, last 10 months, I wasn't home just one month and a half, and maybe the European guys are going back to home every single week.

So the difference, it's very important. I think sometimes is not very easy to be patient, to be confidence, you know, to be like I have to be on court. You know, I have to be patient, I have to be ready for every single training session, every single match.

I think at the beginning of the clay season I was not, you know, thinking about that, but maybe my game, my practice session, you know, were not the best. The results were not good at the beginning of the clay season this year.

But finishing in Roland Garros, I was thinking, okay, this place, it's a great place for me. I did great things here in the past, and I have to play good tennis. Let's see what happen. If it's not a good week, I can go back just for a few days (smiling).

So everything was good since I arrived to Paris, and now I'm winning matches again. I know that I'm going back home after the tournament, so everything is good right now.

Q. Much different conditions this year, obviously, than in October. Have you adjusted? Can you explain how you have had to adjust your game, that it's warmer and the balls are livelier? What are you doing differently? You're getting similar results, but what are you doing differently?

DIEGO SCHWARTZMAN: Well, you have to be ready, because, like you said, the conditions are very different. It's very fast this year when the sun is out there. You have to be sometimes a little bit more aggressive. You have to serve a little bit better, because it's important when the conditions are fast.

Last year was very cold, very slow. This year, like I said, the sun, it's out there, the conditions are very fast, the ball is jumping. So you can make winners and you can be aggressive many more times.

But today was similar to October. It was cold. The conditions was cloudy, and the ball was not jumping. So I was happy (smiling).
