Q. It was a tough match. Were the circumstances difficult? Was she playing well?
MARYNA ZANEVSKA: She played very well, in fact. This year if I were to assess all the matches that I have played this year, I would say that she has been the best opponent so far. I'm quite sad, because I lost obviously, but I'm not disappointed.
I know what I have done. I know that the results were pretty straightforward, but I tried to find the solutions against her. Today she was just the best player. I just have to say to her, Hats off, congratulations, and let's carry on working on my tennis.
Q. Have the current circumstances played a role on the outcome of this match like the fact that the surface was heavy, that it was raining?
MARYNA ZANEVSKA: Of course it's slower, but she played very well. She played very fast. But the conditions were okay for me. I did not think about external circumstances. I just tried my best, and it was not enough.
Q. You said that she played well. What bothered you most? Her serve was certainly a huge weapon. What else was tough for you?
MARYNA ZANEVSKA: Her serve was very good. That's for sure. It's difficult for me to play normally with her.
I don't know how to express this. She doesn't give freebies. She's very proactive. She put a lot of onus on me.
I was quite surprised. In China they tend to play with flat strokes, but this time she put a lot of topspin in her shots, and she changed, she varied her shots, as well.
Q. What is your schedule now?
MARYNA ZANEVSKA: I will play in doubles with Kimberley Zimmermann, and we will try to do our best. Then we will see. I don't know yet.
Q. What could you have done to make it better?
MARYNA ZANEVSKA: My coach asked me exactly the same question after the match. I don't know, actually. I really tried different things. I tried to go for different shots. Sometimes that's just the way it is. You may play well, but it's just not enough. The opponent is just better.
Q. After this tournament, you are going to play doubles and then are you going to go for the grass season?
MARYNA ZANEVSKA: I don't know. I should go to WTA 125 Makarska, but I will make the decision after the doubles. Or maybe I will take two weeks to prepare for the grass season.
Q. Do you like the grass season?
MARYNA ZANEVSKA: I don't know (smiling). I like clay, but it's different on grass. I haven't played a lot of matches on grass court. May have played three matches on clay and two or three on grass.
