Bianca Andreescu

Press Conference

B. BENCIC/B. Andreescu

6-2, 6-4

THE MODERATOR: So very tough battle out there. How do you feel after having put up that big battle?

BIANCA ANDREESCU: Yeah, I think towards the end of the second set I kind of got my shit together and started playing, because during the whole match, I don't know what happened, I was missing a lot, I didn't feel myself out there, sadly. Yeah, real disappointing.

Q. From the outside it looked like you were never quite able to shake off your nerves. Is that an accurate assessment?

BIANCA ANDREESCU: Actually, I had no nerves today. I don't know what it was. I don't know, I feel like I was doing everything I could today, just nothing worked out.

Q. What's your basic reaction to it, disappointment, annoyed with yourself, philosophical?

BIANCA ANDREESCU: Well I feel like I prepared so well for this tournament and I've had really good momentum in my last couple of tournaments and, yeah, just, I was feeling really good. I mean, my first round wasn't the best either, but I did find a way and I won. And I just tried to learn from that match and use that momentum into this match as well.

But, yeah, I don't know, I really don't know what to say. I haven't really been like thinking about it, I'm trying to not think about it. All I can say is I have to get back to the drawing board, continue to work harder and find out what happened today, find out from that what happened today.

Q. Preparing for the clay season that you had, you had more months to do it than others, what do you prepare or change in the training and preparation, if at all?

BIANCA ANDREESCU: Different tactics. I think everything in the gym stays the same, because I'm just trying to be the best physically. But I think it's more on court, like different tactics for the clay versus on other surfaces.

Q. Maybe it's not a good time for this, but you could have played Leylah Fernandez in the next round, now she will be playing Bencic.

BIANCA ANDREESCU: I didn't know that, actually. That would have been cool. That would have been cool.

Q. Do you have any advice to give to Leylah while she will be playing against Bencic?

BIANCA ANDREESCU: (Laughing) I mean, I know she has a good team around her, I know she's going to figure it out, but, I mean, my game plan was to stay aggressive right from the start, so I think if she can do that and just fight until the end, then I think she can win.
