Yankees 8, Guardians 6
Q. How did you feel out there? It's been nearly three weeks since you last saw game action.
LUIS GIL: I felt really good out there tonight. Exciting game. Very excited to be part of it. Very happy with the confidence that the team put in myself. Very happy being part of it out there.
Q. How would you compare the adrenaline and the preparation from a regular season start to a postseason start?
LUIS GIL: I wanted to prepare myself for a playoff game. I had the opportunity to learn from Cole and Rodón and Schmidt and those guys and seeing how they were handling adversity. Yesterday I had a chance to chat with Andy Pettitte and we talked about a little bit of his experience and what to expect out there. In the first inning right there I find myself in a tough moment, and all that I think helped me prepare for that, especially that first inning.
Q. The Dominican Republic was watching this game, wanted to see you in a postgame. How do you feel about it, the expectations and the whole experience?
LUIS GIL: Yeah, thank God for this opportunity for being here. Amazing experience to go out there and compete. It was a really important game for us. We needed this game. To be able to go out there, compete and give the best I have, very happy with it.
