Q. Jon Rahm, now 6-under for the tournament. That was a master class in perseverance and digging deep today.
JON RAHM: Well, you know, it's weird what really goes on in the mind of a player, right? None of those swings felt bad. If anything, on 1 it's important choice of shot off the tee. 6-iron didn't feel that bad, it was just an unfortunate thing to happen. And then all the swings on 3 felt good as well.
So there's just some things that happen in golf, and, yeah, found myself 3-over on the 4th tee, but I told Adam, if we could bring it back to even par by the time we get to the 10th, you can still post 2-, 3-, 4-under, it's very possible. And I was able to just do that and gain a little bit of confidence after that putt on 9 and played a fantastic back nine.
Q. It is that kind of course, perhaps more than any other course, where once you get a bit of the length, the birdies can come. We saw it in the final round from last year as well.
JON RAHM: Well, you have to put it on the fairway, right. Once you're out of position, bogeys happen fairly easily, especially on holes like the third one.
And so I think if I were to see my stats from 4 on, it felt pretty good and fairly constant. Even the mis-hits off the tee were in the fairway and I was leaving myself enough chances.
Even then, I mean, I had a chip-in on 6, it felt like a very long -- which it was, a very long par putt, 5, so there was moments in between the transition to that really around the course.
Q. I asked this a couple days ago as well, but what is the balance between obviously trying to win a massive torment this weekend and just making sure the game is in exactly the shape you want it to be?
JON RAHM: It's a bit of both. If it's something you've been working on that you think can improve your game, you have a world-class stage to try it, right. Some great athletes have always said if you can't do it in the game, why even try it in the future.
So it is a perfect way to try things. And if you're successful with it, you can have that much more confidence going to the Ryder Cup. Again, it's always going to be a good thing to have a big event coming up shortly for the Ryder Cup.
