Quick Quotes

Q. (Talk about being defending champion at a different venue.)

TYRRELL HATTON: It is strange, normally going back to a place where you're defending you have great memories from the year before but the fact that it's a new venue in many respects doesn't feel like defending, and this week is going to be a new challenge for everyone. No one has played it before.

So you don't know how the scoring is going to be and things like that. It's going to be a challenge. But I'll try my best and we'll see what happens.

Q. What do you feel having played in practise you have to do well around this golf course to be successful?

TYRRELL HATTON: Keep it in play and hole putts, generally is a pretty good combination at any golf course. If I'm being totally honest, it doesn't massively suit my eye, which I know it like a links course and stuff, but it doesn't -- it doesn't fit for me.

Q. You're a four-time Rolex Series winner, Jack Nicklaus said in the major championships he felt like they were the easiest ones to win because they were the ones everyone wanted so dearly; you've won more than any other player on the DP World Tour. What is the secret to performing well in the biggest events that you go to?

TYRRELL HATTON: I don't know, it's just golf. You try your best every week, and I guess I've been very lucky with, when it's been a Rolex Series, I've generally played pretty well. Obviously to win four of them is great. But it would be nice to win a few more, too.

Q. You say that, and perhaps that's the key there, isn't it, because most people would turn up to the bigger event, whether it be Rolex Series Event or major championship and feel different because it is different. Has it always been that way for you because you treated it as a game of golf or have you worked at finding comfort in those uncomfortable places?

TYRRELL HATTON: I think I have treated -- I've tried to treat every event the same, and not get too work up in my own mind. Obviously I kind of do that enough on the golf course. Going into it, I just need to try and treat everything the same and that's what I've done throughout my career.

Q. Just finally, what are the goals for this season?

TYRRELL HATTON: Play a weekend at a major. That would be nice. I'm not a huge goal setter but I think maybe that's manage that I could start doing just to help with finding a bit of extra motivation to get out there and do it.
