Q. Having played seven weeks out of eight up to Andalucía, you are you feeling refreshed and ready to go after a break?
THRISTON LAWRENCE: Yeah, for sure, always nice going back home and having two weeks to go into the bush for a couple of days and played Leopard Creek prior to this week. Always nice going home and allowed me to have a break and feeling ready to get these final two events done.
Q. You are currently lying second behind Rory McIlroy in The Race to Dubai. How great is it to have an opportunity to potentially be DP World Tour No. 1?
THRISTON LAWRENCE: Yeah, for sure, last two years, I was like 19th and 14th going into the last two events. I know Rory is a couple of points ahead but it's not going to stop me to try and catch him. I know I'm good enough to win both events going into the final.
So yeah, it's always good to see my name up there, and I'm very proud of myself how I kept calm this year, running up five times, not getting a victory.
There's two left and hopefully I can do something special in the last two.
Q. You won twice in your rookie season in 2022 and twice again last year, and this year the five runner-ups but not the elusive victory. How do you reflect on the season as a whole?
THRISTON LAWRENCE: I think I probably played better than the last two years. Obviously winning would be nice. But just playing nicely, playing under par every single day every week, just getting a score and stroke average on the ball is what it means to be playing good golf in my eyes.
Winning is special and nice and it doesn't happen often. But I think making a lot of cuts and giving yourself opportunities on Sundays is still good enough in my books.
Q. Any particular reason that you've been so consistent and competitive all year?
THRISTON LAWRENCE: I think just not changing a lot. I think just what I've been working on two years ago when I got here for the first time, I'm still doing it today. So not changing and sticking to the game plan and sticking to routines. I do my warmup and not do anything on Mondays when I make the cut on the prior weekend. Just sticking to my guns and that has to help with consistency.
Q. You're playing in the first two rounds alongside Rory McIlroy and Rasmus Højgaard.
THRISTON LAWRENCE: Yeah, I haven't played with Rory to be honest. Played with him that one hole in a playoff at Wentworth. Really, really excited. I think he's probably the best golfer golf has seen the last 15 years consistently. That's sort of where I see myself going forward is being so consistent every year and contending on both tours. And Rasmus, good player, nice guy, as well, so very excited for the next few days.
