Q. How pleased to kick things off here in Dubai?
JOHANNES VEERMAN: Yeah, it went just about as good as I would have hoped maybe even better. I got off to a really fast start. The conditions on this course are pure so you're never going to have a bad lie. The putts roll true. It's pretty self-evident in the scoring today but yeah, 9-under, might be my best opening round in a while. I'm sure maybe I've done it somewhere but it's been a while.
Q. When you feel a round going into the right way, you have the momentum. Mentally, how do you ensure you keep it going?
JOHANNES VEERMAN: You kind of try to stay out of your own way so it's easy to start thinking about the holes ahead and the shots ahead and I'm doing this and this is what everyone else was doing, so you just control what you can control which is your posture, how you carry yourself.
Q. How excited about the opportunity now? You've had a good year. Big end to the season. What's the level of excitement you're feeling right now?
JOHANNES VEERMAN: Pretty high. You kind of go into these tournaments, it is easy to go into these events thinking these are two bonus you events, just end of the year, no-cut events which is great. But now you shoot 9-under on the first day and you're pretty happy.
Q. Are you going to not look too far ahead at what potentially could happen?
JOHANNES VEERMAN: I think everybody knows. It's no secret, if you do well this week, there are things on line, like the majors next year and PGA TOUR cards, and you just embrace it and you just take it one day at a time.
