Q. Many congratulations, your third DP World Tour victory and third in a Rolex Series Event, come in a dramatic afternoon, 8-under par round of 64. What does this victory mean to you?
NICOLAI HØJGAARD: It means a lot. It's the sweetest one. It's so much hard work been put in the last couple years, and this year has been a really good year if I look back on it, I feel like the only thing I need, was missing, was a win, and to get it this week, this field, is unbelievable.
I mean, I can't believe it's just happened. Because I was just so focused on the job on the golf course, and understanding on 18, having a putt to actually close it out, and it slips by, I thought it was quite a tough moment for me, actually, yeah. Did I just let it slip away now and do we have to go to a playoff. Par but kind of regrouped and took it a little bit easy.
But this feels amazing. I've got family here. This one is for family. Everything they put in over the years, there's so much hard work going into this. For it to happen like this is unbelievable.
Q. Two shots behind with six holes to play and bogey the 12th, and you then make five birdies in a row under the most extreme pressure. Tell us what you're thinking and what you're feeling as that's unfolding?
NICOLAI HØJGAARD: We were talking about it out there. Just focus on the job. Focus on myself. Don't worry about what everybody else is doing. We know there's a lot of birdies on this golf course but at the same time you have to hit the shots, you have to hole the putts, everything can happen, especially coming down the stretch.
I was so focused on the job today, and being the last two weeks, yeah, to walk up 18 knowing there's a good chance for it, feels pretty good.
Q. This golf course is no pushover, but we've seen some low scores. Is that the best golf of your life?
NICOLAI HØJGAARD: It's up there, yeah. It came in stretches this week. It came in stretches where I played some really good golf. I have to say, it's probably the best golf I've played in a tournament because this is the strongest field of my three wins.
Yeah, the game feels good. I felt good before going out. To finish it out like this is pretty cool.
Q. Victory takes you to second in The Race to Dubai and to a career-high 50th in the world and we know that opens doors into major championships, etc. How excited about that?
NICOLAI HØJGAARD: I was hoping to make a run the last two weeks to get close to the Top-50, so to finish out like this, it doesn't mean it's guaranteed, Top-50 for next year, but this is the sweetest way to finish the year. I can't believe we finished on such a high note, and definitely going to enjoy this.
