Quick Quotes Morning Foursomes

Q. Just describe what it's like to close out a match with a shot like that.

JON RAHM: I saw it on the green and thought it was past it because it was so good. I turned around and saw Tyrrell's reaction, Hey, Jon look, and I didn't realise it was live on the screen and almost saw it go in.

Obviously that's what you plan for but stuff that you dream of. He makes that putt on 17 to put pressure on them, all credit to Patrick to go after that and make that shot still. You know, it's unprecedented for Xander two miss two putts like that in a row. We did a lot of good things today, and I'm glad we closed it out.

Q. What was going through your mind with the match that tight this late on?

TYRRELL HATTON: Yeah, it was hard mentally. I mean, I didn't hit a great tee shot down to 14. Kind of on the back foot there and then again, four second shots in-between clubs, went for the lesser club into 15 because we felt like the wind was helping but wind has been swirling around today so it's been a little bit awkward.

Yeah, it was hard at that point. But obviously this guy, he's like a walking highlight reel. It's just incredible. It's nice to hole that putt on 16, and then the shot that he's just hit in there at 17 is just out of this world, so what a partner to have.

Q. This is a challenging golf course in this heat and intense Ryder Cup pressure. You're resting this afternoon. Are you happy with that so you'll be fresh for the singles?

TYRRELL HATTON: We'd like to keep going.

JON RAHM: As a competitor you want to keep going, but we had a couple players finish early that had been better rested. Yesterday Tyrrell's match with Viktor went all the way to 18 and mine all the way to 18 with Nicolai, right. 36, 35 holes in a row, high intensity. We were 3 UP and very quickly found ourselves all squared, four to go.

It's mentally draining, but Luke has to do whatever he thinks is best, and we can still do our part as partners out there today.

TYRRELL HATTON: Like Jon said, naturally as a competitor, you want to go out there and try your best for the team. Ultimately, yeah, we have the afternoon off but it's still going to be pretty emotional for us. We'll be out there supporting the guys, and yeah, looking forward to it. We have got a great team from 1 to 12, so it's going to be an exciting afternoon.
